Hibachi! Arenas Stays Hot In Win Over Bobcats

Text Size A A A

Gilbert Arenas continued his hot shooting at home, scoring 33 points and even handing out 10 assists in a 121-109 win over Charlotte. Let's get to straight to the interesting part of the story: Gilbert has found some new trash talk to drop on his opponents.

It appears that Arenas has been so hot at home, that he's started yelling "Hibachi!" before he shoots. How awesome is that? The guy is so confident that he's punking you before the ball even leaves his hands. Caron Butler had this to say about it:

"He says it every time he shoots. Everybody hears it - whenever Gilbert talks, everybody hears. He really was screaming it this morning in the shootaround, so 'hibachi' it is. He's on fire, so 'hibachi."'

Gilbert was also screaming it louder and louder in the second half, as his shots continued to fall. So why "Hibachi?" Let's go straight to the source:

"You know, a hibachi grill gets real hot. That's what my shot's like, so I've been calling it that: 'Welcome to the hibachi."'

As long as Arenas continues to chop up his opponents like a chef at Benihana, I'm sure we'll have many more opportunities to hear his latest battle cry. Like all things Gilbert Arenas, I'll wait patiently for the t-shirts to be released.
