With the Philadelphia 76ers in the process of shipping Allen Iverson, out of town, everyone is clamoring to figure out where his next destination will be. Allen Iverson to the Indiana Pacers seems like a good fit to me.
Indiana's current weak spots are point guard and leadership, and Iverson would provide help with both.
The only question is: What would the Pacers give up in return for Iverson? We know Jermaine O'neal isn't going anywhere, so the players that they will probably shop to Philadelphia are: Marquis Daniels, Jamal Tinsley, Al Harrington, Danny Granger, and Stephen Jackson. I'm not sure a combination of any of those players gets a deal done. Maybe a combination of those players and a couple of future first round draft picks would satisfy the Sixers.
All I know is that it's time for Larry Bird and Donnie Walsh to put their thinking caps on and get a deal done, because the pairing Iverson and Jermaine O'neal would immediately make the Pacers a contender in the east again.
Could A.I. be Heading to the Pacers?

I'm sure the Pacers would give up Jack, Tinsley, and Daniels for AI in a heartbeat. I say that as Jack and Tins just led the Pacers to a win. If Bird/Walsh want to continue to shake up the roster this is their chance with the Sixers in a bind. I just don't see the Sixers going for it without at least Granger added in. ESPN is reporting AI thinks he'll go to Minny. Should be interesting.
Iverson is a magnificent athelete and can shoot the ball like nobody else can. But.......Iverson plays no defense and he lacks the ability to get his teamates involved in the scoring. Have you ever watched the 76's in the last 6 years? It's Iverson having the plays called for him and the rest of his teamates get to make shots with whatever is left over. In the last 11 years, Iverson has proven over and over again, that no matter how good a player is, no one player can win a
championship by himself. The only one to blame for this lack of involving the team is Iverson.

He'll be better off leaving philly going to minnesota playin with KG
Good riddance. The 76'ers are not going to win consistently with Iverson taking most of the shots every night. Good teams win playing team ball, not with one player hogging the ball, with the other players just running up and down the court not involved with the offense.
AI deserves a ring. The real culprits here are Snider and Billy King. Notice how competitive the Flyers are.
Blaming Iverson for King's incompetence is just wrong.
Even Jordan didn't win without a decent supporting cast.
Allen would go over well in Corn Country, although I can see him meeting Grandma Bird and her loving him for some reason.
The Stephen Jackson aspect of this move has a nice addition-by-subtraction aspect to it, although a Jackson/AI pairing would be the most dangerous duo to hit the midwest since Bonnie and Clyde. They would lower property values.
A.I is a great player but always has been a head case. I think that Philly should of traded him back when Larry Brown was coach, back then thats the meesage Brown kept trying to tell people he's not a team player and cause's problems. If I had a guy who felt he didn't need to practice then I would get rid of him immediatly. But Philly need to get a boat load for him and not just trade him for anyone just to get rid of him. If he goes to Minny then they should be looking to get K.G in that trade.
A.I. HAS NO ONE TO BLAME FOR HIS PREDICAMENT BUT HIMSELF. A. I. COULD HAVE MORPHED INTO A GREAT POINT GUARD IF HAD AGREED TO TAKE LESS SHOTS AND GET HIS TEAM MATES INVOLVED IN THE SCORING. ON RARE OCCASIIONS HE HAS DONE JUST THAT. IF HE DOSEN'T CHANGE, HE WILL CONTINUE TO BE THE BALL HAWKING TROUBLE MAKER THAT HE HAS BEEN HERE IN PHILADELPHIA
We all have our theories and opinions on the Iverson situation, but the real culprit in this fiasco is that idiot of a GM the Sixers have, 'King.' He's the moron that put this hapless team together. People complain about Iverson shooting too much, who else on that team is capable of making shots consistently? Webber is washed up, Korver can only shoot three's, which makes him one dimensional, Dalembert is foul prone and uncoachable, and none of these guys are considered defensive stoppers. In additon, the Sixers have no bench to speak of. Cheeks, while he may be a nice guy, is not head coach material; he failed in Portland, and he's failing in Philly. Sure Iverson has baggage, but at least he brings it every night; that's more than I can say for his soon to be former team-mates. As a current Philly residence, I've watched King turn the Sixers into the equivalent of basketball purgatory. This man knows as much about basketball as I do about giving birth. Iverson has given his all to this organization for eleven seasons, he deserves a title. Too bad it won't be for the Sixers. I wish him well!
Allen Iverson is a bad apple!! It will not be easy to trade him because of his contract and negative attitude. He is a cancer to any team because he puts the team in a secondary position to his own personal goals. He is a bad example to his teamates!! Why any team would want him is amazing to me. I think Philly should send him to D-league to work on his character!!
I think Allen Iverson would be a great addition to any team in the western conference. The Kings or the Grrizles could use some big time help from Iverson to lead them all the way in the playoffs or the Finals. But as you know top teams like the L.A. Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Utah Jazz, or the San Antonio Spurs will end giving a great deal on his contract.
IVERSON IS THE TOUGHEST PLAYER OUNCE FOR OUNCE IN THE NBA. I ALSO CANT SEE HIM PLAYING ANY DIFFERENT WITH ANY OF THE TEAMS THAT ARE INTERESTED IN HIM. HES GONNA SCORE AND THROW UP LOTS OF SHOTS WITH ANY TEAM THAT PICKS HIM UP. THATS ALL ALLEN KNOWS I DONT THINK THATS GONNA WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP NO MATTER WHO SURROUNDS HIM. GREAT INDIVIDUAL SCORER... YES, TOUGHER THEN NAILS... YES, HIS GAME GONNA BRING A NBA TITLE TO ANOTHER CITY.....NOT!!!!! MAX : )
I would like to see AI go to the Mavs or Pacers or Wolves. Philly better be careful or they could end up with a bigger mess; C. Web is a shadow of his former self-trade him. AD
I been watching this kid AI since he was in college he has not change his game at all, alot of the blame goes to him and to the people that have coach him, they aloud most of this mess from him.Larry Brown has a lot to do with this to and its making Billy King look like the fall guy.But that's ok when the Sixers off load this selfish kid and get quality players the city of Philly will be like it was in 1982
AI would be good for Pacers. But I would not I repeat give more than Tinsley & Jackson. Don't give up your young players for AI's few yeare he has left. Who knowa will this year be the time all the wear & grind start to doing him in? Is good man to get you points & Pacers could use him for that.Jackson gotta go if you bring him in together would be like nitroglistern
just waiting to explode & Pacers don't need that.
AI THE ANSWER + PP THE TRUTH Boston is the best option for philly. Boston has all the young talent Philly could want. I have been watching the celtics for years, as Joe JOhnson.. C. Billips... were sent away too early. They became great. What did we ever get back? nothing I can recall. This is a chance to right the ship. Get a superstar and stop waiting for Al Jefferson and G. Green to grow up. It could be years, and then paul pierce will be declining. No team wins championships with home grown teenagers. It's time Ainge. Make the call.
Rudy...are you freaking dumb...he doesnt play defense? you are ignorant...hes one of the best defense guards in the league..as for the shooting..he has no one to pick up the slack...he averages 9-10 assists a game this year...i mean what more do you want....dont you ask for a guard to have 30 points and 10 assist..isnt that good...King and Snider are the problem...how bout putting some money up in the offseason and getting some help instead of always having trade rumors about him...peace
Pound for pound, inch for inch, A.I. is one of the best in the league. Everyone last year was saying, "The big guy (Shaq)should get a ring." C'mon he had four prior to winning his last one with the heat! A.I., go where you know your skills will be valued and appreciated! Preferably Indiana (heh heh:)
Iverson, you've always been my number guy! You go baby!!!
send him to miami and we will get another title or two he and dwade would be unstoppable when shaq comes back. who would you double team?
