Well, this interesting: According to this morning's Charlotte Observer, one of the worst teams in the league, the Charlotte Bobcats, are close to deciding whether or not to enter the Allen Iverson sweepstakes.
What's funny, besides the fact that the Bobcats share an identical record with the Philadelphia 76ers (both are currently sharing the basement of the Eastern Conference at 5-14), is that Iverson averages 31 points per game - which is half of what the Bobcats scored in Friday's embarrassing 92-62 drubbing at the hands of the Houston Rockets.
Why the Bobcats? Ten million. That's why. The Bobcats are $10 million under the salary cap, more than any other team in the league. What kind of package would it take to land Iverson?
The 76ers would probably ask for Charlotte's best player, Emeka Okafor, the team's No. 1 pick in the 2007 draft, and one of the Bobcats two point guards (Raymond Felton or Brevin Knight). If Bobcats GM Bernie Bickerstaff and part-owner Michael Jordan had any clue, they'd counter with super-sub Sean May, attempt to throw in wing Gerald Wallace, and tell the 76ers they can have Brevin Knight and the team's 2008 #1 pick. (The 76ers, who are in a terrible spot with no bargaining power, would probably chuckle at May the tweener, Knight and his chronicle injuries, and Wallace's poor start to the season.)
Memo to the Bobcats: Under no circumstances should you part with the 2007 #1 pick. Not even Iverson's worth missing out on Greg Oden or Kevin Durant. But coughing up the 2008 #1 pick would be fine. Heck, by that time, the Bobcats could be a force in the East, what with a potential lineup of Iverson, Morrison, Okafor, and Oden.
The Observer is running an online poll about the Bobcats going over AI - and so far, it was 58-42 in favor of attaining the difficult but outstanding player.

I think it would be a great addition! The Bobcats have plenty of money to spend and have quality young players.
They should trade there 2008 first-round draft pick and ELY,KNIGHT,MAY,AND WALLACE
By the 2008 season they would be rolling IVERSON,OKAFOR,MORRISON,AND ODEN!

I think it would be a mistake. Iverson is a ballhog and he would not help the Bobcats in any shape or form

That's a mistake for Allen Iverson. Both the Bobcats and Sixers have the same record. How is that an upgrade for Iverson, who truly deserves to win a championship. Its not at all. He deserves to go to a team that has some type of playof contention.

Allen Iverson is more fitted to play for the Harlem Globe Trotters. He is circus exhibitionist not a basketball player.

More I think about it ... they probably wouldn't need Wallace with Iggy and Carney on the team; May would be stuck behind C Webb, and though Knight would be a huge boost at PG, he does have health issues.
Can't see this happening unless the Bobcats take on CWebb's salary, and they're not that stupid...

Let it go!!! Iverson wouldn't be worth trading for, especially not for a young team with all that potential. No Iverson doesn't deserve to win a ring, he doesn't even deserve the paycheck he's getting now, Iverson has proved what many kids need to learn today, you don't win alone, you have to make players around you better, and if you wish to succeed in life, you have to be a nice person! No, you can make a gabillion dollars being a jerk, but then don't cry like a baby when no one wants you around! Iverson may quickly learn that he isn't worth all that HE thinks he is and he better try and make a personal change before it is too late and he is sitting on the couch next to Sean Kemp, Ralph Sampson and many other could've beens!

A.I. to Bobcats?? C'mon, he'll be after a title.
Charlote would be just Jordan's revenge for the crossover A.I. gave him 11 Years ago!
No offence to the Best of the Best, but Hey, I A.I.'s Big Fan and wish him always the best, which is not Charlote. Maybe T-Wolves, or Indiana.

Ralph Sampson's career was cut short due to injuries not attitude. He average almost 20 points a game in an injury filled career. He certainly can't be put in the same catagory as Allen Iverson.

I think Iverson isnt worth the money he gets he trys to play everypart of the defense and offense. This isnt pick up ball at the cages were it can be one-one this is real basketball 5-5. He needs to learn how to spell P-A-S-S or atleast know wat the meaning is and i say he stays in philli and let me waste away and never get a ring hes on deserving and should just retire!!!

Iverson, what does AI really stand for? Always Immature. Let's see. He is doesn't believe in practice. He is unaware that championship teams have chemistry and practice is required for greatness. He parks in handicapped parking spaces. He wants the ball so he can pad his stats. He gets in trouble with the law. He associates with some degenerates. He disrepects his customers by not showing up for a function with season ticket holders. He has the lowest shooting percentage of the leading scorers due to his poor shot selection. He holds the world record for getting coaches fired. He cannot tandem with other talented players. Now, in all fairness, he is a talent and gives it his all on the court. But he will never have a fat ring on his finger. Sure, he will be a draw in his new home but it will be deja vu all over again.

Iverson is probably the number 1 PG in the east. He dishes out 5 plus assists a game,s o he's no ball hog, and he scores 30 plus points. The Sixers are stupid for trading him, but AI is demanding it, so what can you do. The man in my favorite player and wants out of my favorite team, makes me mad, but get rid of him then. C Webb and AI 2 need a stir up and Iverson should stay, but looks like hes going. Bring on over someone that passes more and lets Iggy shoot more.

Come on give AI his RESPECT, the man is a real ball player. You want to be NBA ball player stop the hating. AI, bring money to the NBA just like MJ did and he's the best thing going on. If you give him someone to play with on the Sixers, the sixers would have a team. Bring him to my team Wizard. The MAN NEED TO GET HIS RESPECT from the players, fans, and the NBA. BOBCATS get AI, and get some young ball players to play with him.

First off everyone here talking about Iverson, Oden, Morrisson and Okafor should forget that for a lot of reasons. First off if the 76ers take anything from Charlotte it would be this years pick and Okafor. Second off if you were able to keep this year's pick I am sure Iverson plays you out of the cellar and keep you away from Greg Oden.

This is for the guy Quizzon Bradley after reading his response posted on Dec. 11, 2006. The first thing I would advise you you to do dude, is catch the first thing smoking, to take you to the nearest school in your neighborhood, and go get an education! My thing is, If you know that you really can`t read or write, don`t embarass yourself by trying to get on the internet, and let the whole world read how dumb and stupid you are. Hopefully, someone would read this message to you. A MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE!!! As for trading A.I., I say trade the bum & Chris Webber, and start from scratch with players from the draft & free agency.

u cant play team ball if there isnt a team to play with you idiots. if he had some good players on the Sixers i dont think they would be 5-15. oh and the "ball hog" has 7.3 assists per game. i didnt think it was possible for a "ball hog" to have that many assists. and yes, Quizzon Bradley may not seem like the smartest person in the U.S., he still knows wat he is talkin about, Darrel H.
