Kobe Says Gilbert Arenas Has No Conscience

Gilbert Arenas out-dueled Kobe Bryant last night with an incredible 60-point performance that carried the Wizards to an overtime victory in Los Angeles. The Lakers scored 46 points in the 4th quarter, and the teams combined for 82 in the final period to send this baby into OT. This was almost as crazy as that Suns/Nets game a couple of weeks ago, where the teams combined for 84 points in the 4th, on their way to double overtime.

Despite Arenas dropping 60 on the Lakers, including 16 in OT to clinch it, Kobe Bryant was not impressed. Kobe seemed irritated at the loss, and after his initial statement of praise, got in this shot at Gilbert:

You tip your hat and say, 'See you next time.' First of all, he shot 27 free throws. We as a team shot 30. Think about that.

But him individually, it's funny. He doesn't seem to have much of a conscience. I really don't think he does. Some of the shots he took tonight, you miss those, and they're just terrible shots. Awful. You make them and they're unbelievable shots. I don't get a chance to play him much, so I haven't gotten used to that mentality of just chucking it up there. He made some big ones, but I'll be ready next time.

I'm a fan of Kobe's, but for him to say that anyone has "no conscience" on the basketball court ...

ARE YOU F@%$ING KIDDING ME?!

Come on, Kobe. If anyone has no conscience when taking shots, it's you. Maybe you haven't shown it this season, but you are the all time leader in forced shots. Arenas shot 17-32 from the field, it's not like he took 50 attempts. His shots may have seemed ridiculous, but anyone that's seen Arenas play this season knows he can (and does) hit those consistently.

With all of the negative NBA talk about the fight over the weekend, I agree with the assertion that it's time to celebrate the game with a performance like this. Kobe comes off a little like a sore loser here, which is too bad because Gilbert's performance was one for the ages.
