Pierce has a stress reaction -- a swelling of the bone and the soft tissue surrounding it, team spokesman Jeff Twiss said Thursday. Pierce will miss Friday night's game against Philadelphia and the five-game road trip that starts Tuesday in Denver.Just a feeling here, but is Pierce just pouting because the Celtics missed out on the Allen Iverson sweepstakes? Aside from that ferociously, horribly, impetuously, malevolently, savagely, terribly, vehemently, viciously bad ending, he looked rather healthy last night, dropping 27 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in a loss to Golden State.
If you just rolled out from under a rock and missed the ending of the game; basically Pierce was hoarded by the entire Warriors squad (coaches included) and could not get off a potential game-winning shot. Golden State tied him up, forcing a jump-ball... game over. Next time when being sixteen-touple teamed, you may want to pass to the open man under the basket. Or just flip the ball out to Cable Guy like you did earlier in the season.
So Iverson get's traded Tuesday night. Pierce (who was fully behind the idea of Iverson going to the C's) gets a "stress reaction" the day after the trade.
Coincidence?
Editor's Note: If he's injured, then can someone please explain what the hell "stress reaction" is? Isn't that what you get with too many lap dances?

This site is full of the conspiracy theories lately. I'll take this as a sign that Pierce has finally quit on Doc, but Danny will wait til 2010 to realize it and fire him (if he's not fired first).

Fantastic journalism. Spot on Truthiness!
Next can you do an article on how the moon landing was faked? No facts, just your gut feeling for that one as well.

Bobby Simmons was suffering from a stress reaction that caused his season to be ended. Basically its the medical term for what happens to your foot before it gets a stress fracture. Rest is supposed to take care of it. With Simmons history of Plantar fasciitis in the same foot there was concern about the pain. They ended up finding bone spurs so that is why he is having two surgeries on his foot. Simmons was also given a clean bill of health before the stress reaction.
If Peirce does have a stress reaction (we have no reason to think otherwise) I'd actually be quite concerned.

Great info Gregg!
Celtic fans shouldn't worry too much and this injury, Pierce is very resilient and will be back to normal soon.

Are you serious?? Out of all the players in this league Paul Pierce has never been one whose durability and heart can be questioned. To even insinuate he's quitting because the Celtics didn't get Iverson is STUPID. Just like you are STUPID, IGNORANT, and anything else that fits for even putting this to print. Learn something about the game before you write this crap. If this was Lebron or Wade, the whole world would come to a halt but because it's Pierce he's pouting?? Just another example of the disrespect he receives despite being one of the best all-around players in the game.

What is the point of this "article"? To cast speculation on the heart and toughness of one of the Association's best players? To what end?
The Celtics could not reasonably match the Denver option - they do not have a stud pointgaurd, two #1's, and a big expiring deal to move. Pierce is not a fool, he knows the facts.
I would like to send the author an E-slap.

Bad call, moose. Stress reactions are no fun, your bones turn to powder, and Allen Iverson usually has nothing to do with it.

Celtic fans are AWESOME! Seriously, of all the teams that I write for you are the most passionate and most web savvy.
Keep up the comment posts, I encourage both hate mail and positive mail. It shows that you care about your team... unlike Spurs and Heat fans.
Lastly, this is a far fetched theory, I'm 99.5% sure that I'm wrong, but's it's fun to do.

I'm not buying that Pierce sits right now, not with the Atlantic conference to be won, not without Danny or Doc nudge nudge wink wink say it hurts encouragement to showcase the youngsters for a couple weeks. The C's do need to figure out whats what with anyone and everyone under 25 not named Jefferson or Green and make some tough decisions....but to address the orginal theory go faulk yourself Paul Pierce isnt a quitter, he wouldnt be sitting unless he was sure it was totally nessecary as well as others informing him of the same situation. Damn.

Pierce is bound to get frustrated and eventually it's going to show in his attitude and play. He's not a guy like Magic or Jordan that will drive a team to the chmpionship level on his own. He needs another big-time player in there to help out (which everyone does). But in the meantime, his patience is slowing melting away.
