Who is this Marc Stein guy? He knows everything! Report:The Golden State Warriors have agreed to trade Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy, Ike Diogu and Keith McLeod to the Indiana Pacers for Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, Sarunas Jasikevicius and Josh Powell, NBA front-office sources tell ESPN.com's Marc Stein.I'm busy eating hot-pockets, but my knee-jerk reaction to the deal is that the Warriors come out of this mess on top. Yeah, you trade away Mike Dunleavy; you win. Simple as that. More to come soon...

Let's not overlook the reality that the Pacers get a lot whiter and that appeals to their fan base. I'm guessing Murphy and Dunleavy won't have too many incidents with punching fans and shootings at night clubs. In talent, the Warriors are the winners. Is Steven Jackson the heir apparent to Latrell Sprewell?

Dave: I agree with each one of your sentences when taken separately. But not with the implication that punchings and shootings are a black/white issue.

Good call, Miss Gossip.
I'm hoping, if this trade is legit, that Murphy and Dunleavy improve their play as a result. I've got both of them on my fantasy team!

I am super happy right now. A Warriors fan for my whole life, and now we are getting rid of the anchor of our team. Dunleavy is the worst player in the NBA. I hate him.

The Warriors did get the better trade but this is just a trade to give the pacers the pieces that are needed to get corey maggetti out of LA.
By the way your all wrong...Jackson is the worst player in the world in ever aspect of it. Not a team player, he is a thug, he shoots too many times, and gets beat up by handicap people. No offense to any handicap people.

The Warriors got rid of two future all- stars in Murphy and Diogu...Jackson is just what the Warriors need, another gun tooting thug in Oakland...Jackson should fit right in.

Warriors cleaned house to ensure nellies running game will prevail (he hopes). Sorry to Dunleavy depart, pacers will get a solid citizen, and a very savvy player who handles the ball well, passes, and can be a good play maker. Warriors now have Pietrus exclusively at small forward who is strictly a long range gunner who has trouble holding on to the ball, walks alot, can't dribble and makes a ton of turnovers. Murphy can be a solid rebounderonce he returns to the low post area instead of the perimeter when he was with the warriors. Warriors get shafted with thugs and more players who are not good team players. Jackson is more than a calculated risk, he is a debit to society.

Being a lifetime Pacers fan, here's my opinion on the trade.
1) As mentioned before, any trade that got Stephen Jackson out of Indiana was a great trade. The fan base hates him. He's been inconsistent on the court his entire team in Indiana, and has provided multiple black eyes for the organization. (Black eyes probably wasn't the best choice of phrase there, no racial meaning was intended...sorry)
2) Al Harrington - Sad to see him go, everyone was excited that he came back to the Pacers, he's a fan favorite, someone who was there for the Finals run a few years ago. But in the end, he's a liability for a team already loaded at the forward position. He's also one of the worst overall players in the league if you compare positive stats (AST, STL, BLK) vs. turnovers. He's also been a bit inconsistent this year. In short, he's a scorer, but not enough of a rebounder to play the 4 or 5, at least in Indiana's system
3) Sarunas Jasikeiviejjcuesus - A disappointment since he set foot in Indiana. He can shoot the lights out...at times, but other times goes just as cold. He's also too small to play shooting guard, can't make plays as a point guard, and is as much of a defensive liability as Ron Artest was a defensive asset.
4) Josh Powell - I'm a huge Pacers fan, and I don't even know who he is...that should sum that up.
As for the Golden State players
1.) Murphy - This will be the most interesting player to see in the new lineup, I could see him teaming with Foster to form a very serviceable, nay, a good center.
2.) Dunleavy - As a prior Dunleavy fantasy owner, I've spent more time watching him than any of the other Warriors players, and I'm really glad to see him come to Indiana. He plays basketball the Indiana way, the fundamental way, the Coach K and Bobby Knight way. His jerseys will sell pretty fast, I'd imagine. I think he provides a really valuable boost off the bench at SG or SF behind Marquis Daniels and Danny Granger. Essentially he should be a sixth starter like Ben Gordon in Chicago.
3.) Diogu - He rebounds. The Pacers need rebounding. Sweet. I'm interested to see where he'll fit into the lineup though, as JO is entrenched at the 4 and Foster and Murphy should be effective at the 5
4.) McLeod - Might be effective as a backup to Tinsley, but I haven't seen him play enough to accurately judge this.
In the end look for the Pacers lineup to look like this
PG - Tinsley/McLeod/Greene
SG - Daniels/Dunleavy
SF - Granger/Dunleavy
PF - O'Neal/Diogu
C - Murphy/Foster/Diogu
I could even see the Pacers with a lineup that puts Daniels at point guard but actually runs the offense through Dunleavy. Either way, the effects of this trade should be interesting to watch.

I'm glad Jackson is now a member of the Warriors. He is a guy who reminded everyone in Indy of how poorly he shoots when he fired the shots during an altercation outside of a strip club during the pre-season. Not only that but I have to wonder about his decision making process. If you are in pre-season why would you go o a strip club.

Hey Pacers fans, I've been watching the Warriors for years, and you are delusional for thinking that Murphy and Dunleavy are going to help you a lot. Dunleavy is soft and a total underachiever. He will never be what you picutre he could be.
Murphy is a slow, unathletic outside shooter. his inside game is the worst i have ever seen. he may be 6'11, but i have never seen anywhere get blocked more than him.
Having these two guys on the court at the same time is very bad news. Your only hope is that the east's slow style fits them better, but it won't be fun to watch (and their D is attrocious).
The kicker is they have more expensive contracts (albeit not significantly higher) and the contracts are longer. Good luck trading them in the future.
The only bright side for you is Diogu, I like'd him, but he's worth sacrificing to get rid of Murph-leavy.
I understand the problems with Jackson's character, but him and Al fit great into our up tempo system.

SSR: You apparently have never seen Sarunas play. He's a smaller, worse shooting version of Dunleavy and he may actually play less defense. Granted he's significantly cheaper than Dunleavy.
