Jackie Christie Wants Doug to Return to the NBA

According to his wife Jackie, Doug Christie would like to return to the NBA, and she told the Toronto Star that they hope the Raptors might be interested:

"My dream is for Doug to play there again one day," Jackie said. "We loved Toronto and I tease him and say, `Maybe Toronto will call.'''

Of course, it should come as no surprise that Jackie is the one who's dreaming about Doug's comeback -- the couple is famous for her dominating ways, from their hand-signals to each other when he was on their court to her complaints to team officials about female reporters talking to her husband when she was not present.

Since Doug was cut by the Mavericks in 2005, the Christies have spent much of the last year or so poking fun at their relationship, starring in a reality TV show on BET (Committed: The Christies) and self-producing a low-budget movie (The Christies: Un-Cut), which features some, um, interesting skits:

In one skit, Jackie returns Christie's, uh, manhood to him from the kitchen cupboard and when he slaps it into place, he becomes a wife-abusing jerk whom the police arrest and jail. In another, Jackie threatens star-struck fans of her husband with a gun.

If you can't laugh at spousal abuse, what can you laugh at? Anyways, it was promoting these various ventures which inspired Doug to think of the very unfortunate pose above. As far as Jackie is concerned, there isn't anything wrong about their relationship:

"I think people are going to (criticize) because Doug has taken a stand to be different,'' said the mother of three, referring to her husband's public commitment to fidelity. The couple get remarried every year on July 8, with this summer's bash – wedding No.12 for those keeping score – likely in New York City with other couples invited to do the same.

"He's not falling into the stereotypical stigma of NBA players of partying and adultery," Jackie continued.

Adultry, no. Bondage, Maybe. To each their own.
