It's obvious that the NBA has not been watching much of Kobe Bryant over the years. In end game situations throughout his career, Kobe has always tried to draw contact on his shots. There is no better proof of this than this video that a commenter at Forum Blue and Gold found on you tube. Take a look at the motion of Kobe's arms. It's the same motion he made against Ginobili on Sunday. Sorry NBA, you've kind of contradicted yourself on this one.
Now look at the video from Sunday and tell me he wasn't trying to accomplish the same thing:
What Kobe Was Really Trying to Do...

They're being too easy on him.
Yes! Thank you, Nate. Thank you, Kurt at FB&G.
Are you blind. Yes, Kobe is trying to accomplish the same thing in both plays, but it's totally different when the player is directly in front of you and when the player is to the side. That on Sunday was a reckless attempt to draw a cheap foul (but not a cheap shot) and if it makes Kobe think twice before pulling off something like that again, then the suspension was good. To call the NBA inconsistent is ridiculous (in this case). It matters if you smack a guy's arm or his face.
Yup, he does this all the time. At the very least it is an offensive foul. That shot against Utah was a joke.
But is it not possible that Kobe _knew_ that he used this motion so regularly and proceeded to use it maliciously with the knowledge that he would have a valid excuse?
I see the similarity in the movements. But what troubles me is how forcefully Kobe comes down with the follow-through, especially with Ginobli in the perfect spot for the hit. It just looks so much like a hit, and I think there's definitely the possibility that this wasn't really inadvertent at all.
That being said, I haven't seen Kobe's choked-up press conference, and that might sway me to believe in his innocence. I just can't make up my mind right now.
Everyone who is glad the NBA suspended kobe is just a Kobe hater. If it was Lebron instead of Kobe, there would have been widespread out rage over the suspension. A foul on Kobe wasn't even called!!
Lol D. Brown steped on Kobe's foot in the utah video. The ref was looknig right at it
best player in the nba without a doubt
Pay attention to the video. The foul was called because the defender stepped on Bryants foot. The ref is looking right at it. No flop there.
This was a flop by Kobe. A flop is deplorable and does make Kobe look dumb, but it is absolutely, definitely, positively not worthy of a suspension. Anyone who says otherwise is just looking for an excuse to bring down Bryant.
Brown actually stepped on Kobe's foot on that play, and then moved in under him a bit. Clear foul.
It is obvious that Kobe swung his arm to regain his balance from getting the shot blocked. He wasn't trying to draw the foul because after his shot was blocked he went for the ball and shot it again. If it were Lebron or d-wade, they never would've been suspended. D-wade always goes out of control to the basket and he always gets the call. In fact, he broke the franchise record for free throws the other night.
I agree with comment #8. Kobe for MVP!!
