Arenas: Needs Goofiness to Go with Swag

You might have thought that the Wizards lost last night because of Jamison's injury. Or Gilbert's off-night. But as usual, Arenas has his own explanation. From the Washington Post:
Arenas admitted that he got too caught up in the hype.

"Yeah, of course," Arenas said. "I was here all last night shooting, getting ready for the game. I've got to stop doing that serious thing before the game. I have to be my usual goofy self. That's why I struggled early from the perimeter."
This isn't the first time the All-Star guard has admitted to letting the build-up get to home. Think back on the season opener, when the long-awaited LeBron/Arenas rematch ended with a big fat zero next to Agent Zero's name in the box score. Then, he suggested that he had to loosen up and let his game come to him. Now, he's taking it even further, and admitting what a lot of us had suspected: dude's game is based on silliness. Or carefreeness. Or whimsy. Or any number of things that would enrage Kobe Bryant and his dead-serious approach.

You often hear athletes stress the importance of fun. But saying that "goofiness" is key to your game? That's exactly why we bloggers have thrown ourselves behind the Arenas bandwagon and kept on pushing.
