Tim Hardaway, former Heat guard and former owner of a nasty crossover, does not believe in the crossover when it comes to sexuality. Tim keeps it straight, and he hates people that don't. Dan Le Betard asked Hardaway on his radio show he he'd deal with a gay teammate. Tim Hardaway's response was not pretty. "First of all, I wouldn't want him on my team. And second of all, if he was on my team, I would, you know, really distance myself from him because, uh, I don't think that's right. And you know I don't think he should be in the locker room while we're in the locker room. I wouldn't even be a part of that."Suddenly, I long for the innocent days of Shavlik Randolph's shower concerns.
"You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people. I am homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States."
I really don't know what to tell you here ... it thoroughly depresses me. Hardaway's words pretty much speak for themselves. I could tell you that Hardaway is an uncultured bigot, fears things he isn't familiar with, and has a hateful heart. But if those thoughts aren't already in your mind, nothing I can say is going to put them there.
But here's the truly scary part:
Hardaway: The majority of the players would ask for him to be traded or they would want to get traded.I don't know how qualified Tim Hardaway is to speak on behalf of the entire NBA, but he feels like "a majority" of players share his views. And Tim is OK with just outright releasing the player, and keeping him out of the NBA entirely.
Le Betard: But you'd be trading him to a team where he probably wouldn't be wanted there either, I would imagine.
Hardaway: Right, that is true. Just buy him out his contract and let him go (laughs). You know, something has to give. If you got 12 other ballplayers in your locker room that's upset and concentrate and always worried about him in the locker room or on the court or whatever, you know, it's gonna be hard for your teammates to win and accept him as a teammate.
If you're looking for something to ruin your day, you can hear the audio here.

We should not throw stones at Tim for saying something millions of people are thinking, the problem is Tim is in the spot light. His thoughts are not new or unusal, he just made a really bad decision by saying his thoughts aloud.

life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are included in the bill of rights along with freedom of speech. timmie is entitled to his opinion. where he takes it to a whole new level is buying out a gay player's contract and not allowing him to compete. would timmie put his money where is big mouth is and buy out the contract himself? does he feel so strongly that he would walk away from his own contract? talking the talk is one thing but when it comes to walking the walk and proving his talent superior he won't compete. what i do not like are crybaby millionaire athletes that do not get their way. micheal jordan did not want toni kucoch, dennis rodman or steve kerr to play for the bulls. jordan started a fight with kerr during his first bulls practice. kerr fought back. maybe what timmie is afraid of is amieche standing up to him. jordan got over having rodman in the locker room and the shower on his way to another 3 nba titles. jordan never got to pick his team why should timmie. timmie you are no micheal jordan. you think you can dish it out but in reality you can't take it. nobody sings louder than a whore in church.

Robert, people like you are perverts. It sounds to me, you are an ex Catholic Priest or minister. How can you throw stones, and you have led a pervert life? Let's see if Satan will have you over! Robert how many black gay and lesbian friends to you have, and is it not true, the white gay community exclude black and lesbian gays? White gays can hide in the closet like many are doing, but a black person can not hide their blackness to hide in a closet. I can't imagine what a black gay man has to deal with in racist white America. Julio Williams - Greensboro, North Carolina

I DIDN'T SPEAK UP. "in germany, the nazis first came for the communists, and i didn't speak up because i wasn't a communist. then they came for the jews, and i didn't speak up because i wasn't a jew. then they came for the trade unionists, and i didn't speak up because i wasn't a trade unionist. then they came for the catholics, but i didn't speak up because i was a protestant. then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak for me."

Robert, I have never seen or heard Anderson Cooper state, he's gay. I read that site you put out there, and it's just a bunch of sissies gossiping. LOL I did post and paste the comment listed below. I guess, you will be saying Shephard Smith on Fox Cable News is gay next. There is gossip about this man. Homosexualuals and others need to stop gossiping and mind their business.
There exists three viable reasons for Mr. Cooper's refusal to admit that he's gay:
(i) He might fear he'd lose his job. Frankly, that's not very tenable in that CNN would catch all hell if he were fired for that.
(ii) He's afraid his ratings would suffer if he admitted to being gay. Of course, the only folks that would refuse to watch him because he is gay are the same ones who try to make the lives of gay folk as miserable as possible. The ones who block gay marriage and adoption by gays. The ones who block hate crimes laws and even block laws intended to protect high school students from being bullied and tormented because they are gay (or perceived to be so). I guess the premise of the last one is that if you allow bullying in schools the fewer gay folks you will have--like some kid in Bumfuck, Montana, will say, "Hey, I thought I wanted to be gay, but look how that poor kid got his ass kicked at school, so I guess I'll just be straight." Anyway, Mr. Cooper has decided to accomodate these hateful people by not admitting to being gay, which in one fell swoop (i) perpetuates the myth that there is something shameful about being gay and (ii) admits to the bigots that there hateful, ignorant opinions have merit.
(iii) He might actually be ashamed that he is gay.
I find neither of the three compelling in any way, so Mr. Cooper can kiss my ass. Of course, if he did, he'd never admit it in public.
I don't care if you are a politician or a school teacher or a midnight security guard, you can tell whomever you like and not tell whomever you like, but when your actions further the idea that being gay is shameful, you are hurting yourself and your brothers and sisters. And you earn every bit of scorn that I have for you.

Yes Tim, "gay people arent getting sprayed with firehoses, getting attacked by POLICE dogs, and made to sit in their own SPECIAL gay section of every public building". However, you should take a course on gay history to learn everything that homosexuals have had to go through. And, if instead of history, you like current events, do some research on gay-bashing in the US. Many gays get beaten up and/or killed in this country every year because of homophobia. We just hear about it from time to time, when the media have nothing more interesting to tell us; but a law enforcement agency such as the FBI can provide quantitative data of this problem. And the numbers are incredible. By the way, did you know that some countries have the death penalty for engaging in consented gay sex? Because we always think of the US when talking about gay rights, but let's not forget that foreign gays are human too and what they have to suffer in less developed countries is horrible.
And what can you tell me of the demeaning comments a gay person has to hear about him/her through their lifetimes? Do you realize that a gay person goes through verbal gay-bashing EVERY DAY, usually SEVERAL TIMES a day? Can you imagine what that does to a person over a lifetime? And people do it because they have no clue the person in front of them is gay. Race is immediately identifiable, so people won't insult you that way if they know what's good for them (to your face, I mean), but homosexuality is not.
Something else: Saying that for many people sexual orientation is a choice is one of the most absurd comments I have heard in my life. It's just a way for homophobes to put the blame on homosexuals. It's a strategy (for some); and some others simply believe it because they have heard it many times. The American Psychiatric and Psychological Associations would be able to offer some insights on that.
Tim, societal development (in the general sense, because development is not just about wealth)should benefit everyone, not just the group you belong to.
One last thing: You feel uncomfortable in a locker room where there's a gay dude? That's understandable to a certain point. But it's also true that you can get over it pretty easily, it's just a matter of habit. Nobody's gonna jump on you!
I still remember my late grandmother-in-law when, after seeing a straight black couple in bed after sex (on a soap opera) said: "You know, I think segregation was a good thing because if they're sitting on the back of the bus you don't have to smell them."
Old ideas die hard, but they eventually die with the people who hold them, and the new generations step forward to keep improving society. For everyone.

Tim Hardaway is a hypocrite.
I was told 7 years ago from a sports writer covering the Heat, who was my neighbor in West Palm Beach, that Tim Hardaway was bisexual. Perhaps that is why he is so defensive to deter anyone from pointing the finger to him. Needs to be challenge to lie detector to eat a little crow.
My friend had said that more than a few star athletes get a little experimental since so many women make themselves readily available to them they get bored.
He also said that Dale Davis occasionally dressed in drag. Obviously, a strange sight since he's 6'10".
My friend now writes for the Sun Sentinel.

what tim said was mean, but understandable...I would not want a gay person telling me he is gay and then having to be naked around him...gay men are attracted to other men and fantasize about them, just like straight men fantasize about women, and would love to see them naked, naturally. Race and sexuality are not the same..and sexuality and race are not he same...many gay people change to being straight and noone ever knows...non-white people cannot change their looks...
