Hawks Reach A New Low: No Field Goals In Third Quarter

I didn't even think it was physically possible, but lo and behold, the Atlanta Hawks managed to prove me wrong yet again. A few hours ago, the Hawks did something that is almost unheard of: They didn't score a single basket in third quarter against the Chicago Bulls. They missed all sixteen of their field goal attempts. They did manage to squeeze in eight free throws during the quarter to avoid total humiliation.

Chicago outscored Atlanta 28-8 in the period and beat them by 25. You might think it took a superhuman defensive effort on the Bulls' part to completely shut out an opponent (this was a first in team history), but according to head coach Scott Skiles, it really wasn't anything to write home about.
"Our defense was good, not great. We have played better defense than that stretch. We were good and they just missed some shots. When they had opportunities, we fouled them and they're weren't able to get the shot off," said Skiles.
Atlanta is 11 games below .500 and has practically no reason for hope as the month of February closes out with games against the Spurs, Rockets, Suns, Mavs, and Hornets. But hey, cheer up Hawks fans, at least Joe Johnson made the All-Star team this year! That's something, right?
