So, about that Heat resurgence ...It might be on hold for a little while, as they lost their MVP last night. Dwyane Wade dislocated his shoulder against the Rockets and left the game in agonizing pain (worse even than being left out of Charles Barkley's five). The man looked like he was crying.
The extent of the injury isn't yet known. From what I can gather from searching around various websites (a technique all the great doctors use), the shoulder is usually required to be immobilized for a few weeks, and after that, it takes some rehab to restore the range of motion. All I know is that judging from Wade's reaction, and Wade's a tough guy ... a dislocated shoulder looks like an extremely painful thing.
It happened on an innocuous little play. Wade was reaching for the ball near the foul line as Shane Battier was trying to reach for the ball as Shane Battier tired to get rid of it. It was the kind of thing that could happen to any guy on any play.
So, as Pat Riley suggested earlier, it's time for Shaq to get out of "ease back into it" mode. It's time for Shaq to get into "carry the damn team on his back" mode. Whether or not Shaq still has that in his arsenal is up for debate.
Miami currently clings to the 8th and final playoff spot in the East, with a two-game edge over New Jersey and a three game edge over the Knicks.

In related news, Pat Riley felt a little twinge in his hip and might have to take another break from coaching for six weeks or so.
Wade is not a tough guy. Yes, he gets hit a lot, but he's also one of the great sufferers of our time. When I saw that wheelchair pic I thought someone had shot him (after they beat him up with a baseball bat). I bet he's back within a week and not because he's such a tough guy, but because it wasn't that bad to begin with.
Pat Riley is such a personable coach, so in touch with his players, that I'm sure he feels D-Wade's pain, so much so that he may have to take time off the side-lines to rehab with him.
Fall down seven times, get rolled off once?
I hope Wade is alright. He's one of the toughest players in the NBA, No one penetrates and goes to the basket more than he does. So he has had his share of hits, so hopefully he will be back to shut these MAVERICK players (Sore losers) up. WADE is the true MVP!
Wow, Pete clearly has never had a separated shoulder before. Pretty sure it's just behind getting shot. (um, not that I would know...)
That is horrible news for D Wade. It did't look like much contact was made. Just curious, who proof reads these articles? Lots of writing errors...
It's a blog, homes.
Has anyone on here dislocated their shoulder? It hurts to walk b/c your arm is hanging in its socket like a 20 pound dead weight. The muscles in your shoulder contract pulling it further out of socket making it hurt twice as bad.
This isn't lethal weapon. You don't pop it out of socket to escape a straight jacket then go kill bad guys. You go to the hospital, they wrap sheets around you for bracing, then get 2 of the biggest orderlies they can find - one to pull your arm and the other to pull your body - until it pops back in.
You can elect to go to rehab but that probably won't do any good. Mine continued to pop out another 25 times until I had surgery. Surgery isn't bad but you're not allowed to move it at all for 4 weeks. I had to get someone to tie my shoe.
Granted I'm no D-Wade but having muscular shoulders almost makes it worse as the muscles tend to be stronger than the joint.
I've heard guys come back fairly quickly. Judging by the angle and the pain he was in this isn't the same time of injury. He might be back for the playoffs but no sooner.
wade is a wuss. anyone remember emmitt smith playing FOOTBALL with a dislocated shoulder? carried the team on that bum shoulder and won the playoff game against the giants.
Ce, Emmet had a separated shoulder, not a dislocation. There's a WORLD of difference. You probably miss work for a hangnail
D-Wade 's amazing!!! he's a strong guy, this must injury's probaly serious.
(remember that shoulder bruise he had against the trailblazers before the all star break? that's probaly what started it)
i think it would b agood idea 4 wade 2 get back as soon as he could 2 defend that title wit shaq and wade miami has a good shot 2 win back 2 back titles wit out miami in playoffs it will b boring so i hope wade comes back
YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING TO ME.. I FIND IT QUITE AMAZING HOW YOU CAN DOUBT A PERSONS SERIOUSNESS ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO AN INJURY.. EVERYONE HANDLES PAIN DIFFERENTLY.. SOME DONT SHOW EMOTION AND SOME DO.. BUT WE CAN ALL AGREE ON THE FACT THAT PAIN AND INJURIES HURTS... PAIN IS NOT NORMAL.. WADE'S CASE INVOLVED FORCE AND ACCELERATION.. HIS ARM WAS VIOLENTLY PUSHED BACKWARD.. I MEAN TO IMAGINE SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPENING HURTS MUCH LESS EXPERIENCING IT.. A MAN WILL NOT CRY IN FRONT OF PEOPLE IF AN EVENT IS NOT SERIOUS.. IT HAS BEEN VIEWED BY SOCIETY AS A NORM FOR MEN NOT TO CRY.. HIS INJURY WAS EXTREMEMLY SERIOUS.. FOR WADE TO PLAY ON A BUMMED KNEE, SHOULDER AND ANKLES SHOWS HIS DEDICATION TO HIS TEAM.. AND IT IS ONLY RIGHT FOR YOU GUYS TO LIMIT THE CRITICISM UNLESS YOU HAVE PYHSICALLY FELT THE PAIN THAT HE HAS ENDURED.. PEOPLE WHO HAVE LOW SELF ESTEEM AND CONFIDENCE ABOUT THEMSELVES ARE FREQUENTLY THE PEOPLE WHO TEND TO HATE AND SAY NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT THOSE WHO ARE ACCOMPLISHED IN WHAT THEY DO.. BOTTOM LINE RESPECT HIM FOR WHAT HE DOES, HOPE THAT HE GETS BETTER, AND DONT JUDGE A PHYSICAL SITUATION YOU HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED IN A SIMILAR WAY.. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK.. THE WORLD IS TOO NEGATVE AS IT IS..
Haters! I can't believe some of these comments. I unfortunately missed the game, but am so sorry that Mr. Wade is facing such an injury. Yes, Mr. Wade is what I call him. Who else carries so much dignity and responsibility on & off the court? Who else can carry their team to continuous wins and eventually the NBA Final's and guess what...helps his team gain the championship. Did I forget the title of MVP? I wonder what it took to gain that? I forgot woosies get that title all the time! Get over it people! The man has an injury. He is my MVP. I would hate to think of who you all deem to be a "tough player". Take that from the baddest chick! I Love Ya D-Wade! Foxy Brown
It is difficult for me to understand how/why so many people have responded negatively to D-Wade's injury. He has single handidly made the NBA exciting to watch again. He has brought back the story line to basketball games. No one since Michael Jordan has been as clutch a performer as he has been in the past 2 years, and he manages to do it with grace, dignity and respect. There are currently many players who can score, but there is only one that has me on the edge of my seat in the 4th quarter. There is only one who doesn't shy away from the moments that his team needs him the most. I think that you all should learn to appreciate greatness. There are not many who come along that has his talent as well as since of purpose. If you noticed I only mentioned one other player by name, and I am sure for those who watched him play, they would all wish that he could have played forever. Unfortunately he couldn't, but D-Wade is the best thing since. LEARN TO APPRECIATE GREATNESS BEFORE IT HAS PASSED YOU BY.
