Each week I'll look at the players who would have the best shot at the Rookie of the Year award if the season ended today. Why? Because I was told to keep an eye on the kids... 1. Brandon Roy, G, Blazers: Meh. All-Star games are bourgeois, too. Roy followed up an apathetic Rookie Challenge performance (six-points on 2-for-7 shooting) with two fantastic games this past week. On Tuesday he led the way with 27 points in a win over the Jazz, and on Wednesday he scored 16 points and dished seven assists in a win over the Lakers. In case you didn't notice, those are two of the best teams in the West. (Well, were ...)
2. Andrea Bargnani, F-C, Raptors: He's getting thirty minutes a game, still hitting the long ball (3-for-6 against the Cavs) and everyone wants to have a picture taken with him. Remind me why Bargnani's hanging with Darrick Martin in Las Vegas again?
3. Rudy Gay, F, Grizzlies: Since winning back his starting spot, Gay is averaging 18.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.3 threes (!) per game. He was also one of the lone first-player stars in the Rookie Challenge, leading the way with 22 points.
4. Adam Morrison, F, Bobcats: Young Adam had his finest half as a pro on Wednesday, leading the Cats to a win over the Wolves with 26 points, four bombs and four boards in 29 minutes. Looks like leaving him off last week's list lit a torch under his 'Stache.
5. Randy Foye, G, Timberolves: I haven't seen much of Foye, so you'll have to excuse me, but is this kid really going to be one of the best players from this draft when it's all said and done? I realize his minutes were handcuffed by Coach Casey early on, but I don't know ... I just don't feel/see it with him. What am I missing? Please fill me in.
On the cusp: Jorge Garbajosa, Paul Millsap and LaMarcus Aldridge.

i really think the wolves blew it by trading Roy for Foye. i'm not ready to give up on the kid already, but it's pretty apparent who the better pro will be.
here is where i'd say something nasty about mchale, but would it do any good? maybe i should start mailing Glen Taylor nude pics of Rosie O'donnell until he sells the team.

While I don't think Foye will be comparable to Roy, I do think he'll be a solid pro as not only can he hit from outside but he can also create.
And I'm really jealous that Il Mago a.k.a. Big Nani plays for your team and not mine. His game seems really fun to watch.

It's cool that the Celtics have a 4th year veteran (KP) who may be days younger than this year's ROTY.

funny gay and roy for rookie of year? huh ...so roy had a good game aginst Utah..who was guarding him? D williams? or wait Derek Fisher? The Grizzley are horrible..big deal they put up numbers in nothing ho hum games big.. The rookie of the year is IL magoos they guy plays for a winning team that plays important games..he is a vital to his teams sucess and wins...he is always matched up against star big men..ie. Paul Gasol..J.Oneal. and puts up good numbers consitatly while playing improved defence everygame its a joke that the nba would pick a player of a very bad team to win..other than randolph who else would be an option on the blazers...
