Will Kobe Be Suspended Again?

Oops, he did it again!

Kobe Bryant's elbow hit Marko Jaric in the face last night, and the NBA is expected to announce whether or not he'll be suspended for it later on today. This isn't the first time Bryant's elbows have gotten him in trouble; on January 28th he struck Manu Ginobili in the head and was hit with a one game suspension.

It's not up on YouTube yet, but you can see footage of the play on ESPN. The Lakers are up by four with just over a minute to go in regulation, Kobe gets the rock on the right wing, jab-steps and rises for a jumper with Jaric defending. On the follow-through, Kobe's right elbow catches Marko in the mug and down he goes. Kobe was called for an offensive foul. In the Spurs game, there was no call on the play.

Kobe is obviously trying to draw a foul on defenders whenever they get too close on his jumpers by flailing his arms; the problem is that this action could possibly take someone's eye out. Since the League suspended him for a similar incident a little over a month ago, there's no reason to believe he'll get off easy this time around. Stop elbowing people in the face, Kobe.

Update: Thanks to Brett, we now have video of the play.
