It turns out that LeBron James will have to leave his home for at least one occasion: he's going to be co-hosting (alongside Jimmy Kimmel) the ESPY Awards in July. James becomes only the second athlete (the first being Lance Armstrong) to host the program. This Global Icon thing is really coming along nicely for LeBron, isn't it?
Though I have my doubts about LeBron's ability to spend an entire evening telling jokes, he does sound excited about the opportunity and I wish him well.
"I'm really looking forward to it," James told The Associated Press. "It's going to be a lot of fun and a chance to get out there and crack some jokes along with Jimmy. The ESPYs have always been very good to me."I've never watched the ESPY's, but from everything that I've heard, it's not exactly riveting television. In fact, Jimmy Kimmel may have already told the show's lone half-decent joke when asked about co-hosting.
"I am delighted to have been asked to host the 2007 ESPYs, but as a father, it is especially exciting to be asked to host with my son LeBron," Kimmel said. The 15th annual ESPY Awards will be broadcast on July 15 at 9 p.m. ET from Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.

Who says he has to leave the house? I'm sure there's a tv studio in there somewhere, he'll just host live via satellite. We need to ask Bill Simmons which ESPY host has the best plasmas. Because we're all just dying to know.

LeBron is overexposed. I feel that as an NBA fan I've been force-fed a diet of Wade and James for the last two years.
Barf.
How about we make a rule that players under 27 can't be posterchildren of the NBA. I'll take the tactility of Nowitzki and Nash over the questionable calls and free throw attempts of "DWade" and "LBJ" any day.
