Still a few things left to be settled... Just in time. Most of us had given up, at least for this season, on the Iverson/Melo merger. Not so fast. After a 115-111 win over the Lakers--their sixth in a row--the Nuggets are locking up the sixth seed. More importantly, their stars are playing out of their heads, with Anthony dropping 33 and Camby (DPOY?) tallying 22 boards, 7 blocks. Kobe missed a ton of shots for the Lakers, who probably shouldn't make the playoffs for their own sake.
The Salt Lake sickness. Golden State belongs in the playoffs. They will be hilarious, add like twelve layers of plotline, and give their fans some much-needed respite. So it's a good thing that they kept the postseason hopes alive with a 126-102 victory upon the brows of Utah. However, that Utah suddenly seems so adept at losing is not a good thing. We've waited all season to see if this surprise team is for real; it would be a drag if they were to exit in the first round. If they're relying on Ronnie Brewer (21 points) to lead them in scoring, they just might. Stephen Jackson had 28 for the Warriors.
The fire next Yao. Don't tell me you aren't rooting for the Rockets. First, T-Mac and Yao returned healthy this week with a vengeance of skill. Then, against the Sonics last night, they showed some real spirit when Nick Collison tried to get dirty with Yao. T-Mac went buck wild, the big guy had 15 in the fourth quarter, and Houston walked away atop a 95-90 final box score. Yao finished with 31, and McGrady 27. Rashard Lewis led Seattle with 20.
