You knew it was only a matter of time before NBA players starting weighing in on Imus. First, it was token activist Etan Thomas, whose reponse was pretty much predictable. Now, fiery Pacers guard Darrell Armstrong is offering his own, umm, original solution to the matter. From The Indianapolis Star: He offered another possible punishment when asked what Imus deserves. Armstrong, with a straight face, said all the women's basketball teams, "need to corner him and give him a good (expletive) whooping. I'm serious."For Armstrong, whose fifteen year-old daughter plays basketball, the slurs hit a little too close to home. And the well-respected vet first says that Imus should have been fired immediately, so he's not being totally irrational. But it's pretty refreshing, in the midst of all the political correctness, to hear someone willing to go toe-to-toe with Imus's ignorance. Racial slurs aren't just a professional inconvenience--in the real world, that's the kind of thing that gets tempers seriously flaring.
Or whatever. You can call this just another thirty-eight year-old thug jumping at the chance to get thuggish.

Really....what is so wrong with this? We all know it's not going to happen. And certainly the punishment he received is inadequate. I don't see what's quite so wrong with saying this......I think many people think this....and what exactly is a token activist? What are you an activist for? Etan takes a bold stand for right, what about you?

This is getting ridiculas!. I hate the use of racist and sexist humor no matter who is doing it but Imus is being treated unfairly (meaning a standard applied to him but not black comedians, rappers and even your average black man and woman). Al (Tawana Brawley) Sharpton, Jesse (Hymie town) Jackson and every other black person who has called for Imus' firing needs to clean house first and boycott rap, and black comedians who use the most offensive racist and sexist comments ALL THE TIME. Y'all need to shut yo mouths until you get your own house in order.

Let's not deter from the issue here...the issue is that IMUS totally degraded the women's basketball team and that is not acceptable...it is my believe that this society is getting too comfortable with tossing blame around..place the blame where it lies, which is right in the lap of Imus...don't give him and out stating, "well, such and such said it" that is juvenile....let's grow up and hold each person accountable for their own actions....SMDH @ the readers and writers of this blog making excuses

How can you truly call a black person racist? With the history of oppression that African-Americans have suffered at the hands of the Western Civilization, can you honestly blame them for their attitudes toward the white race? The typical response for this question, by white americans, is that slavery was so long ago and they need to get over it. But I guess the jim crow era was long ago, where during this period, black women were raped, men were murdered, and nothing was being done about it. Like Emmitt Till's brutal murder. He was beaten until he was unrecognizable, one of his eyes was missing, and the other eye was hanging out its socket. that was common act during that period. I guess the recent comments about Senator Barrack Obama possibly bringing down the democratic party, with his run for presidency, because of his ethnicity, was long ago. I guess the recent headlines in the news about a highschool in Georgia having its first non-segregated prom, and the white students refusing to go, and instead, they will have a seperate prom by their local lake, was long ago. last, the dragging of a texas man by white males in a pick up truck in the mid 90's was long ago, also. The list goes on and on. you can not call a black person racist. White America expects black people to have positive attitudes a people who have blatantly terrorized them for centuries. who would? Do you think jewish people sit down and have dinner with members of Hitlers family? certainly not. Nothing has been done to fix the destruction of the black race, so you can not expect for black people to be anything but angry. peace

This is the problem I have with American culture.... I do love the U.S. don't get me wrong but everyone is so hypocritical.
EX: "Fourteen niggas in line ready to bang your
pride-and-joy, I mean daddy's little angel.
Tell the bitch to get her ass out the house,
cuz your daughter's known for givin' up the nappy dugout." - Ice Cube
One of the better known rappers of all time, and I guarantee you most of the NBA players have something similar on their IPODS. The only difference is a white man said it instead of someone of another race. I do think he was wrong in saying it, but he apologized and there isn't to much else to do about it. Besides, I agree with some things he does. He said once that if America can have all 98% (rough estimate) black colleges (Grambling State, Spelman College, Florida A&M, etc) if there was an all white college it would be an outrage because they are all racist. And you can't tell me those colleges don't give first preference to African-American people over Caucausians. Just a thought.

Anybody of any race can be a racist. Nobody has a "right" to be a racist. Sure black people back in those times had "a reason" to have an attitude towards whites. Sure they were treated unfairly. But this is 2007, we can't keep bringing up the past if we want to move forward.
I have a problem when blacks talk about themselves in a negative way..through comedy, rap, or however. Not many other races do that. Well, not that I know of. I could be wrong. But it's like, it's okay that they talk about themselves, just as long as nobody else tries to.
Now, I think what Imus said was pushing it. It was wrong and inappropriate. It would of been inappropriate for ANYbody (black, white, etc.) to say. There should have been talk about their basketball skills, not their looks. And to compare them to the other team as far as looks, was terrible! I feel bad for them. And would feel bad for them if the majority of the team was white. Or if the person that said it was black. It's just not right for anybody to say..publically..and think that they will get away with it.
I just hope that these girls will be able to "get past" this. I think that Imus regrets saying it and is really sorry.

actually number 8 the preference goes to the white students...and they often get full scholarships.
again i say, i don't want to hear the excuse, "well, they do it"...since you mention ice cube..let's look at the progression of the former "gansta rapper" turned chevy case of 2007. IT'S CALLED PERSONAL GROWTH...both you and imus should think about that...don't characterize every african american by what you see on tv and hear in rap music...trust me..we don't all go around screaming about b1tches and h0es

With just the slightest organization, a few of these NBA, NFL, or MLB players could get Imus kicked off the WFAN-AM microphones in one second.
FAN is a sports station; all they need to do is band together and say that they are not giving interviews to WFAN or any other CBS radio affiliate that broadcasts "Imus in the Morning"; he'd have his (microphone) plug pulled in a tomorrow.
He won't last very long on the radio though; now that MSNBC has cancelled the simulcast because of advertiser pressure, CBS will not want to look more racist than NBC. If he makes it until the end of this week, he will never return from his two-week vacation.
The racists who are still commenting on the women of Rutgers above me in this blog will have to buy Sirius or XM receivers to get their fix of the I-man (though at this point I'm not sure if the satellite providers will want to touch him either).
I've never been prouder to be a Rutgers alumnus and fan of the Scarlet Knights then I have been this week!

Hey d nice and d.al and the rest of you racist blacks, time to tell the truth. We had another black on white rape/ home invasion in this town and guess what is on the front page? What does Imus possibly have to do with anything other than the basketball team. Complete nonsense the way the coach reacted. Those girls were hurt deeply, really. No this women that got raped suffered immensely and yet it wasn't even news enough to be more important than someone 2,000 miles away having their feelings hurt.
I heard Stuart Scott on the radio today quoting Snoop Dogg and agreeing with his comments. This is pretty much all the evidence you need to show how completely racist and screwed up the black community really is. You are quoting a murdering multiple felon. The complete moron Scott Malcolm X Stuart goes on to add that blacks are allowed to call each other nappy headed and hos because it is a sign of respect. Now, I am not kidding you. As if that wasn't assanine enough he adds that the real problem is that Imus made comments that reflect the deeper real issues with white racism. How ignorant can you get? The quote of one man directed at some rough Rutgers players shows that white people in general are racist against blacks? It gets better. He then goes on to agree with that murderer Snoop that Imus should be fired because ,well, Pacman Jones was suspended for a whole year so he needs to have the same punishment. (never mind that it is not the same). He somehow equates the multiple illegal transgressions of a criminal thug with the misguided comment of an old man.
Then right on cue, Greenburg discusses the fact that the majority of players are good people. Instead of indicating every time a player is accused of raping a white woman that it is really just a reflection of the real societal problem, he makes the exact opposite point that was just made. Greenburg didn't challenge Scott on anything he said as if to agree with him. Let me see if I have this straight. Imus makes a comment and it indicates how far we really have to go to overcome racism against blacks. Over 11,000 reported rapes of white women by black men happen every year, yet those are just individual instances and they dont necessarily indicate a problem worth noting. I wont even bother to ask you what the response would be if anywhere near that number of black women were raped by white men. The country still would not have stopped burning.
I could go on and write a book about the blatantly misguided comments I heard within a 10 minute span on Mike and Mike this morning but you probably havent read this far so I will stop.
Time to tell the truth.

And while we are commenting on having IMus fired for what he said, we need to also demand that every one in the black community who made disparaging remarks about the white lacrosse players at Duke needs to be fired. Yes, that is Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Stuart Scott, etc, etc. I hope they sue the living shit out of everyone that had a hand in their prosecution. Just wondering, is it ok to call that thing a nappy headed ho or are only black people allowed to do that?

to tell the truth…
ANY crime committed by ANY person REGARDLESS of color is unfortunate and disgusting. It’s funny that you call out two posters as being racist then immediately attack an entire race due to an act of violence in your town. Here’s the newsflash! These things happen everywhere…and rape is color blind…crime is not the face of the black man. Crime comes in all colors my friend.
You can not gage the severity of the verbal attack on those women @ Rutgers. Obviously you are not black…and obviously you are not a woman…verbal abuse can often stink just as bad as a physical attack.
The problem with you, and I didn’t even read all of your post…but I can tell that your problem is that you have no diversity in your life..try going out into the world and doing you own research instead of the media teaching you about African Americans.
The attack on the women of Rutgers was not just an attack on African American…it was a total disregard for women OF ALL COLORS..and since you seem to be so concerned with vindicating the rights of women…I would think that you would get that…

D-nice, you are an idiot. Really, being raped after having your home broken into is as bad as being called a name. Are you kidding me. Read my whole post. One old man calling some rough neck girls out is equivalent to 11,000 white women being raped by black men. That is a 110-1 ratio. Not 2-1, not 5-1. Black on white crime is the real problem in this country and the real issue in the problems with race relations. Diversity is just another word for having to deal with gangsters and thugs. Multi cultaralism is a misguided notion that is being shoved down our throats by a liberal media. Read my whole submission and tell me where I am wrong. Dont give me some non sense about I must not be black or a women. What, If I am a white man I cant tell the truth. Respond to any facts I have quoted and you tell me where I am wrong. Now, how about this, let me rape your girlfriend and I will let her call me a name. You just dont make any sense. Really, being called a name is worse.
