Danny Fortson Talks Retirement

Text Size A A A
See what you've done, Jerry Colangelo and Bob Hill and Eric Musselman?

Danny Fortson is thinking about retiring at season's close because, well, everyone hates him.
Once his $6.5 million contract expires in July, the Sonics will likely redirect those funds towards [Rashard] Lewis. Fortson likely will be forced into retirement. At times he says he wants to continue a turbulent 10-year-career, but admits that he has alienated many GMs and coaches.
Yeah, suing an NBA owner might shorten your list of possibilities.

Truth is: Fortson hasn't been effective on the court in years. He's a vicious rebounder at 6'8 and he scares the living hell out of opponents, but he's foul/turnover machine. Add in his locker room issues, and he's just not worth it.

We'll miss him, though, because he's an absolute riot. TNT, anyone?
