Sebastian Telfair Arrested for Packing Heat and Driving Fast

Trouble just seems to have a way of following Sebastian Telfair, and now that the regular season is over and he has a little extra time on his hands, it caught up with him again last night: Telfair and a friend were arrested in Yonkers after police discovered a loaded handgun in his car after he was pulled him over for speeding. From the Journal News:

Telfair, 21, who gave police addresses in White Plains and his native Brooklyn, was stopped shortly before 4 a.m. on the northbound Bronx River Parkway when police said his 2006 Land Rover was clocked going 77 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone.

Police said Telfair, who was driving, produced a Florida driver's license that had been suspended. Westchester County [NY] Police Officer Adrian Camacho subsequently found a loaded .45-caliber handgun under the front passenger seat, Westchester County police spokesman Kieran O'Leary said.

Telfair and a passenger in the car, Al Eden Fuentes, 28, of Queens, were both charged with second-degree possession of a weapon, a felony. Telfair was also hit with a misdemeanor charge of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and issued summonses accusing him of speeding and driving without a license, violations.

It's not yet known if Telfair tried to pass the car off as belonging to his girlfriend, nor if they were on their way to a Fabolous concert.

Having a loaded gun in your car is flat-out ridiculous on its own, but if you're going to pack heat, how hard can it be to avoid the fuzz by at least doing the speed limit? Or making sure that your drivers license is valid so that a routine traffic stop doesn't turn into an overnight trip to the clink? There's being dangerous and there's being dumb, and Telfair seems to like wearing both shoes.

Tired of these young kids breaking the Law and having excusses. He should be kicked out the NBA. I bet he change his attitude then. He's a bust anyway. Oh, by the way I am a black man saying these things. Just in case someone wants to make it a race thing.

i think disco needs to understand thats people make mistakes and he needs to get over this race thing. who cares about your race anyway ,because you didin`t say nothing . in my opinion i don`t think he should have drove without a permit, but the gun i don`t know about that. may be he is protecting himself.

Why is that just because you play sports or a famous person and you do something wrong its ok for you to doas you want?I mean if I were driving late at night w/ a weapon (loaded)at that and all the other thing that they do I would be in jail in a second.Is it because they are better then rest,some people do have to work everyday not 6 months out of the year.

To want to banish someone for life because of a driving infraction, and because he had a gun...

While it was quite stupid for him to be driving without a license, and even worse to be driving with an unregistered gun, I don't think it's the worse thing in the world a celebrity has done.

When are people going to start holding other entertainers to the same level of scrutiny? One of the Hollywood Prima Donnas does something and they're forgiven and give a chance to go out and seeking help. An NBA or NFL player does something and they're automatically labeled a thug who should be kicked out of the league.

Astonishing.

After having a very poor season in which he failed to meet expectations, lost his starting position to Rajon Rondo, played very few minutes, and continued his bouts with the law -- I do not expect Bassie back with the Celts. The real shame here is Sebastion is beginning to wear his welcome out in the NBA. Have an alternative to playing professessional basketball? Perhaps in Turkey.

Sebastian Telfair. Where can I stsrt? Overhyped, undersized,and all flash wit no game. Dis guy was a 1st round pick abd has shot 39% from the field for his career. Danny Ainge should be slapped 4 thinking he could help Boston. Portland moved him because they didn't see any upsize wit him, and because they believe Jarrett Jack is a more polish and better pkayer. It's guys like these who make young stars such as: LeBron James and Dwight Howard look bad because he makes people question a young kids maturity level. Telfair is just a streetballer who dominated high school, but wouldn't last N DA NBA, which is a man's league

I feel very upset with him because knowing what the punishment will be should have stop him for trying such a stupid thing. You just have guys who dream of playing in the NBA that loks up to guys like him, Just learn from this one and get your game back
