If you haven't already heard, the big story in the Toronto/Jersey series is Vince Carter. He once was the face of the Raptors, but requested a trade after he got sick of losing, and the team got sick of his wishy-washy attitude. For his part, Carter is trying to warm things over a bit. From The New York Times: Vince Carter, perhaps trying to make amends with the fans in his former city, made several positive comments about Toronto on Tuesday. "I'm just surprised about how the city looks now," he said. "It's just built up - hotels, apartments. It's definitely an up-and-coming city."Some of you may remember one J.E. Skeets, who was so overcome by the Raptors' success that he had to leave the FanHouse. Skeets, one of the world's most devoted Vince-haters, saw nothing but contempt in the statement. As he points out, Carter only left Toronto two years ago. And it's not like Toronto wasn't already a mighty, cosmopolitan metropolis then.
I think, though, this is just more proof that Vince is kind of clueless. He's trying to make nice and say the city's looking good, but instead ends up insulting it and looking stupid. While I'll never be convinced that Carter is a villain, the guy clearly doesn't know how to dig himself out of a hole.

Get a clue you idiot. Vince's comment on Toronto is clearly sarcasm on his part. It's funny how Raptors fans tend to spend more time thinking/hating on Vince than they do on their team. It has been 3 years, Raptors has improved yet their focus is still their loathe for Vince, you people must love and care for him still.
I bet decades from now, Vince will share and brag to his grandchildren that he was at one point hated by one country. Hate him or not, Vince Carter is still the most popular person in Toronto, if not, the whole Canada, and even more popular than the Raptors. I'm sure Vince can't help but laugh about it. Lastly, I'm certain that it's gonna get worse for them, because as far as everyone especially the raptor fans are concerned, a Raptors loss in this series is a Vince Carter win. Trust me, Vince Carter is loving the attention.
P.S. It doesn't hurt to relive a Vince moment, does it?

there are a whole slew of new buildings along spadina, right next to the ACC, that have sprung up since vince has been out of town. and there *are* cranes all over the place - i think vince's comments were pretty accurate.
not that it'll stop me from booing him while he's in town for the playoffs - it's obviously highly effective.

I think you’re right. Vince is more fool than villain. Only a fool would quit on his team so shamefully and not expect the negative blowback. The Raptors are now better off without him, but Toronto fans are having too much fun to let it go just yet. Pressure makes Vince uncomfortable and riding him to that extent delivers added pressure in heaps. Vince says it doesn’t bother him, but the ugly shooting percentage and gloomy demeanor say it does.

Carter is totally hateable on his own merits but your article has the tone of a bunch of little jr high school bitches who say "hey, lets hate so-and-so" to make themselves popular! You're truly a sad little man- or are you really a teenage girl trying to be important? Looser!

I visit my cousins in Toronto about once or twice a year, and last time I was there I noticed they're doing a lot of construction downtown too.
But it's not like I'd expect a sad no-life Carter-hater to actually get out of his mother's basement long enough to notice anything going on in the real world.
