The Utah Jazz just extended their season by beating the Houston Rockets in a tightly contested game 6. The emotional Andrei Kirilenko finally showed up in this series by scoring 14 points and grabbing 5 boards. The pivotal Jazz win sets up the always-exciting game 7 to be played on Saturday night in Houston. One person not particularly excited by this scenario is TNT talking head Charles Barkley. The do-or-die game means that the Chuckster will have to miss the big Floyd Mayweather Jr./Oscar De La Hoya fight in Vegas on Saturday night so that he can provide analysis on TNT:
"I'm stuck with you two losers [Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith] on Saturday night while all of the important people will be in Vegas" Barkley said during Inside the NBA.Barkley looked legitimately bummed out on the TNT set while talking about his bad luck, and to be honest with you, I feel for the guy. Like Charles said, this is only the first round of the Playoffs, and to have to miss a fight as exciting as the Mayweather/De La Hoya tilt (in Vegas no less) for a Jazz/Rockets affair is cruel and unusual punishment. Guess you'll have to catch it on Pay-Per-View just like the rest of us mere mortals, Chuck.

A Seventh game VS what could be a 30 second joke. hummmmmmmmmmmm? I'll take the basketball game anytime.
As far as Barkley is concerned he has two choices either shut up and do his job or quit and go be with the "important people" that lauhg at him behind his back. Personally I'd just as soon see him quit. Who would miss him anyway?

Its refreshing to hear the "real" from a TV personality. He says what's on his mind and doesn't bite his tongue. Shouts out to Charles!

Personally, I am glad to get rid of him to hear more insightful commentary vs. his inane, self - centered rantings. I hope he bet alot against the Warriors!

You can't blame Charles for being upset.
Mr. Barkley should consider giving his ticket to a soldier on leave from Iraq. That would be outstanding.

Go Sir Charles. Right or wrong, you're never indifferent. That's entertaining and that, after all, is what you're paid for. Thanks for saying what so many other people are thinking but don't have the guts to say.

I'll have to agree with Wolf Dog and Charles, Barkley speaks his mind and as long as it is not vulger or racial...he should say how he feels. I am a big basketball fan, more so than boxing. I don't plan to watch game 7 of two teams that have no chance of winning the championship. I'm sure Utah and Houston fans may feel differently, but that's not the point. He plans to work the event so it's not like he isn't "doing his job"; he just made a comment about how there were things he'd rather be doing/watching...I feel the same way at work almost every day.

Charles is hillarious and fun to watch on TNT. If it weren't for him, it would be just another mindless NBA analyst who thinks he knows more than anyone. Charles has every right to express his comments about missing the BIGGEST FIGHT in the past 5 years.
Boxing hasn't had it's greatest moments in history, but it's still a sport. Far better than a insignificant game 7 of two teams that won't matter in the end. Golden State will make a mockery of the winner as they did with Dallas. One last point... ESPN will, obviously, show highlights all night over the game while they can only report (without footage) over the fight. I'd rather see the fight of the year between De La Hoya and Mayweather, Jr.
And if you do decide to watch the game, you might be smart enough to watch the rebroadcast on HBO one week later.
*...Spurs will win the championship anyway...*

I can't stand Charles Barkley and question why he's even on the show. He can't articulate well, his comments make no sense, and he's irritating. If he wants to go to the fight, then resign from the show and go. Nobody's forcing him to be on the show. Nobody cares anyway about him--why does it always have to be about him? Just tell about the games; that's why we tune in.

Also, I think you are jealous of the much more coverage the NBA is getting over boxe..JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha!
