Some guys just can't catch a break. Former Sixer Matt Geiger, for instance, is getting lip from neighbors who don't want the baller to build a helipad on his $20 million Tampa estate. These NIMBYs peppered Geiger with questions about whether he'd fly during kids' nap times and avoid the local bird-watching area at a meeting in a retirement home Monday night, as reported gallantly by the St. Petersburg Times' Eileen Schulte. But Geiger, crafty sucker he is, had an ace in the hole.
The former NBA player said his friends, with him as a passenger, have landed helicopters on his 36-acre estate many times over the past few years. He said nobody complained. Horses didn't freak out and stampede down Old Keystone Road. The world did not come to an end.Oh flip. So either Geiger's trying to be responsible to his community by seeking proper clearance, or he's covering his ass while laughing at his neighbors. Either way? Matt Geiger is hard.
In other news, Stephen Jackson applied with the city of Oakland to build a zero-gravity shooting range under his house. He said he's done it in the Gravitron at the local carnival before and no one complained.
