It's kind of amazing to me that Jerry Sloan -- after 22 seasons, two NBA Finals appearances and missing the playoffs only five times -- has not won a single NBA Coach of the Year Award. Say what you will about the man's bedside manner (see patient: Andrei Kirilenko), Sloan can get results.
You saw what he did last spring. In just a few years removed from the retirement of Karl Malone and John Stockton, the coach is back in contender mode with a new crew but still doing the same exact things to win. But still, he hasn't gotten the love. The thing is, his teams are never horrible, record-wise, so maybe voters are just used to the status quo that they forget to pick him.
However, with this being VOTML, if he didn't get it last year, terrorizing the league in the first half of the season and continuing strong into the playoffs, I don't know what else can get him over the hump.

you are absolutely correct sir. The NBA will rectify this situation, not by giving him Coach of the Year this year, but by renaming the award for him after he retires.
The beautiful part about the whole thing is Sloan couldn't care less.
Jerry Sloan is the best coach in the league and he deserves to win the coach of the year. But of course he wont, but thats okay because the Jazz are going to go all the way this year! GO JAZZ
Jerry Sloan is the BEST... Every year I watch the Jazz (I live in NYState) because Jerry is a first class guy whose teams know how to play the game of basketball...He is a credit to the game and he has never been accused of any on court or off court misbehavior... If AK is unhappy with being on the Jazz he can always quit and move on... As for a trade (he has an overinflated opinion of himself) maybe the Knicks would be a better fit... If he stays I hope he will realize what an opportunity he has playing for a great coach...
