Speaking of dunk contests ...
That's from the annual Magic Johnson All-Star Game in 1986, a charity game organized by Magic every summer that looked a lot like the actual All-Star game played in February. And to think, not only was that dunk contest epic but most of the players showed their stuff without needing 16 attempts at a single dunk.
On a side note, did they really call Spud Webb "Lil Tater" back in the day?
Update: It really is impossible to "discover" anything on YouTube, these days: Shoals had this months ago, though this version sticks with the hokey announcers instead of a snazzy soundtrack.

"Hokey Announcers"?? That's the late, great, long time announcer for the lakers, Chick Hearn, and, I believe, Jimmy Valvano as well. I would love to have both of them here today instead of what we deal with today.

You Toad!! Who do you think you are calling perhaps the best ever NBA commentator "hokey!!" Your ignorance is totally on display with your comments about Chick Hearn, who gave a flavor and color to the game unsurpassed by anyone who didn't actually play the game!!
The players' throughout the league considered it to be a honor to do a halftime interview with Chick. No announcer today can say they have a relationship with the players' like Chick had or with the fans. If you knew anything about NBA basketball you would have reconized his voice and style.
As far as the other version, even Shoals recommended turning the soundtrack off to enjoy the video. Your choice of soundtracks sort of reflects your knowledge of basketball and your commentary. WACKED!!!

They were calling Spud "lil' tater" and said something to the effect of "he's the only player in the NBA who has to be burbed." That's not hokey?
