It started with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, who was clearly still agitated that his team isn't giving maximum effort as we close in on the end of the regular season. This time he didn't wait until after the game to start screaming, he let loose in the second quarter and got himself tossed.
Things got equally crazy for the Pacers near the end of the game, thanks to David Harrison.
Harrison got hit in the face with an elbow with less than a minute remaining, on an offensive foul from the Spurs' Matt Bonner. He received a technical foul for making "threatening remarks" about Bonner to one of the officials, but didn't stop there. He continued to stand on the sidelines shouting expletives, so an "undetermined" Pacers' member sent him to the locker room. It wasn't head coach JimO'Brien, though.
"I subbed for him and somebody on the bench made a decision to send him to the locker room; it wasn't me," Pacers coach Jim O'Brien said before Harrison's blowup came to light. "You shouldn't get technical fouls if you're David Harrison. I subbed for him, so his night was over."
And Harrison's week is over now too, thanks to the Pacers dropping a one-game suspension on him for last night's antics. So yeah, considering this wasn't exactly a game between two heated rivals or one that had a lot of meaning, I'd say it was an unusually crazy night in San Antonio.
