Surely Kevin Garnett's Emotional Outburst Was Not Purposely Marketable

Honestly, it never occurred to me, while watching Kevin Garnett's insane post game interview with Michelle Tafoya, that he might be taking a whole slogan-savvy approach to the whole thing. But then I read Darren Rovell's article about the celebration, and I gotta admit, the idea that the Big Ticket was pimping out Adidas ("ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!") does hold a little water.

For a second, I thought that is so great. How often, in the first interview after you win the championship, do you quote the slogan of your shoe sponsor (adidas pays Garnett for his endorsement)? And then I thought, wait, did he just say, "Anything is possible?" That's not adidas' slogan. Their slogan is "Impossible Is Nothing.

One of Rovell's readers points out that Li-Ning, a Chinese shoe company, already has "Anything Is Possible" pegged as their slogan, albeit in Chinese (yiqie jieyou keneng). So either Garnett messed up or he just didn't mean to do any advertising at all.

I am siding with the latter argument -- while it is a spectacular time to give a shoutout to the people that pay you millions of dollars a year to wear shoes -- that there's no way Garnett could have planned out a speech-style advertisement and then screwed it up.

Don't get me wrong, I think that is something we will see soon following a sporting event, and already have to an extent, with boxers getting tattoos and what not. But KG just doesn't seem like the type to take it to that level in any of the "big three" sports. Too intense and honest, even if that scene last night was out of a meth-inspired Under Armour ad.

Ever heard of "I'm going to Disneyland?" or Brandi Chastain's Nike sponsored celebration? It's already happening. But I agree that this might not have been the case here.

I think KG was just caught up in the moment.. he had JUST won a NBA TITLE for the FIRST TIME...and was very emotional; ALOT is running through your mind during all that... so DR. HUXTABLE let's cut it on the hating..im happy for the big three- they earned it.

If he's not trying to say "impossible is nothing" then what does anything is possible even mean? That yes, it's possible for the pre-season favorites to win the title? This isn't villanova in '85. I stand by what I said.

Even if they won most people don't like him better yet do not trust him, I wonder why;
Ala Larry Holmes a champion that was not well liked but Holmes has a lot more credentials then this guy;
In game 5 Gasol made him his bitch and inmediatly Tom Thibodeau for game 6 send to double and triple team Gasol better yet he send 101 years old PJ Brown to hurt Gasol ala Horry and why? so, Garnett look like a hero ( high) b4 and after the game??
Champions with an attittude not well liked or trusted with the majority of fans;
Duncan,MJ,Magic,Shaq,Parker,Manu ,Kareem,Bird and many other players are well liked even to this day NOT this group, I wonder why?

Dr HuxTable, Who had Boston as pre-season favorites to win it all? Pre-season many didn't think they could win the East. Before the finals 9 or 10 EPSN experts picked the Lakers. What are you talking about.

LA with 3 months to go in the season were the 6th seed in the Western conference;
LA got Gasol and LA changed finish 1st in a very close race;
Boston with Doc and Pierce last year=0
So boston got Garnett,Ray Allen, Posey, Powe, plus,plus and later Cassell and PJ Brown but the puzzle was Tom Thibodeau ??
From inception Boston establish itself as the front runner in fact they were going to beat the record establish by the Bulls
72-10 so is was expected for them to be somewhere after the second round, alive and well;
Comes the playoffs and LA does better then expected;
Comes the playoffs and Boston got all kind of problems with a very,very young Atlanta team ? solution?
Enter Tom Thibodeau , again ? more and more steroids( drugs) and peanut butter sandwiches and closed doors to the end! Done.

Kg is very real with drugs;
12 years with minnie and he became the little bitch of Shaq and Duncan but he didn't care much as long as he had his;
Now he is a big man in Boston with a personal supplier;
That is how real he is.
