So many Corey Maggette rumors, so little time. Well actually, we have nothing but time right now considering we're in full blown off-season lull mode until signings can officially take place later this week. But with Maggette being the most productive player on the free agent market that might be willing to sign for the mid-level exception, plenty of teams are lining up for his services. Let's do a little roundup, shall we?The Celtics are interested; Doc Rivers called and told Maggette so himself. The Spurs are interested, and, if the offer is for enough years, may be the best opportunity for Maggette to combine minutes with a chance to contend for a title. The Magic have some interest, although that rumor's a little light on substance. The Cavaliers and Pistons are likely to be interested as well, especially at the low, low price of a multi-year deal for the MLE.
That's really the reason for all of these teams getting in on the Maggette sweepstakes: a salary for someone of Corey's talents that starts at around $5.8M per year and only increases by eight percent each season is an absolute steal where NBA dollars are concerned. If Corey does decide he's all about the money, the only teams that can offer him more than the mid-level are the Warriors, the Grizzlies, or the Sixers. But Corey has already been quoted as saying "If you want to win, you have to make sacrifices," so I expect him to end up choosing a team that has a chance to get to the Finals sooner rather than later.

What about my Hornets???!!!! This is EXCATLY the type of player we need to complete our team ( well actually someone like him that plays the 2 naturally , but he should be able to play the 2 with CP3 doing all the handling ). All the Hornets need is an athletic guard/swingman and with him on the market for this price we HAVE to get him. Why are we not in any of these discussions???

With Chris Paul hogging all that 68 million, there wont be any money left for the Hornets to make an offer to Maggette. I hope Maggette chooses the Spurs so next year they will have an easier time knocking out the Hornets. It wont last for 7 games. Furthermore it will give the Spurs the power to knock out the Lakers too. But ill stop short of saying its enough to beat the mighty Celtics.

Hogging? really Mike? hahahaha wow ok. they still have room if Corey wants to sign for the mid level as reported ( only reason i even thought we had a chance of getting him ). If he really took a step back and looked at the contenders he would relize he is still "young" and Hornets have the brightest future and he IS THE BEST FIT for them. Will him im willing to bet my years salary they are going to the Finals. If he watches there playoff games from this past year he will realize this too. He would fill our ONLY weakness and u know it Mike...

Oh and mike im still laughing from your "easier" comment about the Spurs knocking out the Hornets. I think 98% of the world would agree the Spurs did not "easily" knock out my Hornets ( the 2% that agree being the Spurs fans). And the only reason they won that series at the end ( i was at game seven) was experience. But now the retirement home Spurs are old and my Hornets are young . Average age of Hornets is 27 ,average age of Spurs is 32 (yikes!!!!). And im sure the average age of the starters is even lower for my Hornets. We are the future , spurs the past....
