It was officially over for the city of Seattle last week. But the pain that the fans will inevitably feel that comes from seeing their former team's players wearing the jerseys of another town begins today. The Un-Sonics will be sporting uniforms which read NBA-OKC in the Orlando Summer League, and will be referred to as Oklahoma City in the official box scores from the games.
The NBA has approved the use of the generic jerseys throughout the team's five-game summer league schedule rather than have the team wear what is now an outdated Sonics jersey following last week's settlement between the team and city of Seattle that made the franchise's relocation official.
No decision has been made on the team's nickname or official uniform colors. Although The Oklahoman had a team-naming contest, and the final four have been narrowed down to Barons, Thunderbirds, Outlaws, and Thunder; I like Outlaws myself. Fans have been designing mock jerseys using a black and gold color scheme that looks pretty sweet, which you can get a look at here. One thing's fairly certain where these jerseys are concerned: I'm sure the NBA isn't expecting to sell a single one of them to someone living in Seattle.

Wouldn't Oklahoma City Boom(ers) have been better than Thunderbirds? Or would that just be another knife in the Sonics' back?

I HATE OKC. IT GOT VOTED WORST CITY IN AMERICA, BY IRANK.COM. SEATTLE GOT VOTED BEST. I CAN'T WAIT TILL KEVIN DURANT LEAVES BECAUSE HE DOESN'T WANT TO BE IN OKC. THEY WILL NEVER MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.

Outlaws would be apt, given Bennett's near-criminal actions to get them to OKC.
Or could we just modify one of the other options...
Now presenting your 2008-09 OKC Robber Barons!
Maybe the OKC I Drink Your Milkshake?
