Remember a while back when Gilbert Arenas was thinking about not blogging anymore? Contrary to what we all believed, it appeared that he didn't enjoy all the attention from the media he received when he said something that was perceived to be wacky or downright controversial. Well, after a hiatus of over two months, Gilbert is back with a monster effort that deals mostly with his international tour for adidas. But there are also some gems in there where Gilbert gives his opinions on some of the recent free agent moves that have gone down.Besides basically saying that he doesn't see the Elton Brand, Baron Davis, or Corey Maggette deals as being the best fit for those respective teams, he also breaks out the laughter when thinking about the deal that sent Richard Jefferson to Milwaukee.
Richard Jefferson going to Milwaukee .... HAHAHA! Oh man, now that is funny. When I heard that, I started laughing. Oh man, did I start laughing. You know why? Because every player hates Milwaukee. Nobody wants to live in Milwaukee. I'm sorry, Milwaukee, to come down hard on you, but no one in the NBA wants to play in Milwaukee. From him going from New Jersey, actually from New York (because he lives in New York), from New York to Milwaukee is like going ... let's just say it's not going to sit well with you. That was a funny one when I heard that one. While this is something we discussed at the time the trade happened, it's pretty hilarious to see Gilbert going LOL on the deal and adding in the part about every player hating Milwaukee. The Bucks and Wizards always seem to play extremely competitive games; this recent post from Gilbert will simply add a little something extra to the fire.

Who is Gilbert Arenas? What has he actually done in this league that we care about his opinion? Kareem loved the Bucks so did Moses Malone. And i know Michael Redd and Mo Williams love to be in Milw where the fans are happy to have good players with team first attitude. Gilbert Arenas what has he done for the Wizards other than show that he is a all show and no go player who is all about Agent Zero

Does being all about agent zero include TAKING LESS MONEY THAN HE WAS OFFERED ON HIS CURRENT CONTRACT so his team could sign better players. Hey, you don't like what he said and thats fine but he knows players in the league and you don't (how players felt about the city 30 years ago doesn't matter anyway). If he says people don't want to play there I have to think its true. I know he hurt your feelings but don't let the bitterness distort reality.

Taking less money on his contract, huh? 126 was the max, he took 111 million over 6 years, 2.5 million less a year... not even half the MLE.
What type of team mates does 2.5 million a year bring you?? Not enough to bring back Roger Mason Jr apparently, you get Dee Brown signed from some turkish league. This contract isnt even a month old and i am already tired of gilbert being portrayed as some sort of great philanthropist

hootie,
He left 11 over six years on the table? What kind of player are you going to sign for $2M a year?

Let me help you with the math here. They don't get an extra player on their team because of the contract, they have an extra 2+ mil to spend on players. You pick up someone @5 mil per year that you wouldn't have been able to get @2.5mil for instance (its not Arenas' fault if the GM screws it up). The Wizards are up against the cap and won't pay the luxury tax so every bit of room helps. Simple concept.
Not that any of that matters, my point was that he obviously isn't just "all about Agent Zero" like the original commenter who loves the virtues of "players with team first attitude" suggested.

Don't NBA players just want to win, and not care what city they are in? I know Milwaukee isn't L.A. but I mean, this statement by Gilbert seems to imply that NBA players would rather play for New York, or Atlanta (or any other crappy team in a larger market) regardless or how good the team is. It's all about style and profile I guess.

First of all, Gilbert only represents the ignorant players in the NBA. Second of all, I happen to have a direct quote from an NBA player who would disagree:
-- On Friday afternoon, Bogut was back at the Bradley Center after taking a 17-hour flight from Australia, and he said, "There's nowhere else I'd rather be today." --

Gilbert, your blog might be more intelligent if you had some original thoughts, not just recycled garbage from the the NY Times.

Are you joking or confused because this is a sports website. Do you want sports bloggers commenting on the deregulation of the oil speculation market and how it relates to how much more it now costs Shaq to fill his Hummer?

Gilbert Arenas is the poster child for adolescent athletes that don't ever grow up. Even if what he said was the truth, the need to post it was what? And he laughed at the "misfortune" of someone else. What a jerk.

Yep, Milwaukee is a tough one. If you're not from there, there's no reason to go there.

any player who has to think of his own nicknames and bleeds his team dry in the salary cap after an injury plagued season is a joke. i rather have ramon sessions than agent 0's aging game and bs personality. GO BUCKS!

oh, and the wizards team prez, who gave gilbert his money, was last employed by the Milwaukee Bucks, and he built a winner there that went deeper in the playoffs than agent zero has ever, or will ever go. thanks for sucking your teams salary cap, the wizards are aging and will sink in the eastern conference.
