You really can't blame Joe Dumars. I mean, if you're a highly successful NBA general manager who's built an annual championship contender through shrewd cap management and a core of team-first players and supplemented with quality development projects like Amir Johnson and cheap veterans, you're going to have little pet projects. Apparently Joe's newest obsession is signing the greatest draft busts of our time. First Darko Milicic, now Kwame Brown has been added to the "bargain"of $8 million for two years. That's right. Kwame Brown makes $4 million next season. The guy that got booed by the fans of his own team will make $4 million. And people wonder why I'm big on the D-League.
The immediate comparison everyone is jumping to is that of Rasheed Wallace, a former Washington draft pick that initially struggled who goes to Detroit and succeeds. That's the best part about current Pistons fans. Drinkin' the Kool-Aid is almost a religion to them. And this time, it's Kwame flavored!
Oh, and if you're wondering why a picture of Wilson Chandler is attached to the post, just look below to the gentleman auditioning for one of those tasteless Nike ads.

$8 million for a guy who averages 5 points and 5 rebounds a game and shoots free throws at a rate (40%) that would embarass Shaq. For one quarter of that amount, Dumars probably could have lured Michael Olowokandi, Greg Ostertag and Benoit Benjamin out of "retirement".

Oh, my--Kwame's gonna fit in great w/ the Pistons, considering his blue-collar work ethic and all, indicative of the spirit of D-Town. The Pistons fans are gonna ABSOLUTELY LOVE this work horse: non-stop hustle on the defensive end of the floor, offensive genius...the list goes on and on, I tell you!
/wtf was Dumars thinking?

Some great connections here: Nike ads, Darko Milicic, Amir Johnson...but there's no way Kwame will have the career turn-around that Rasheed and Chauncey did.

On the plus side, this Kwame couldn't possibly perform worse than Detroit's other Kwame.

Maybe playing for the Detroit Pistons in a team concept will do wonders for Kwame Brown's career.

When I first read the title I was thinking, "Whatever, tall guys who are suppose to have 'potential' will always find a team". However I was assuming Kwame got signed for like $1 Mil a season MAX.....but FOUR MILLION a SEASON?? I want his agent, I'm sure I can get a contract too.

The problem with the Rasheed comparison is that Rasheed was a great player (I'm a Blazers fan), he was just a first class prick at the same time. Kwame might be a much nicer guy off the court, but he's nowhere near as good as Rasheed was when the Pistons acquired him.

As a long suffering Bullets/Wizards Fan, one of the happiest day of my life was getting Caron Butler for Kwame Brown. Michael Jordan's number one pick was a complete disaster and he never looked like he really understood what was going on around him during a game. No wonder Kolbe was fed up with the Lakers last summer and Mitch Kupchak went from dummy to genuis once he dumped Kwame. But more importantly does anyone know if Pink Floyds "Dark Side of the Moon" is the album that when played with the "Wizard of Oz" syncronizes the movie and album perfectly. Remember Kwame is no Rasheed, Mr Dumas.
