Josh Howard returned to Wake Forest this past week to conduct a youth summer basketball league in Winston-Salem. It sounds like a popular event, and he's seems to really enjoy putting it on. From the
Winston-Salem Chronicle:
I mean, it would've been easy for Josh to simply put up some money and simply let the league go on without him. But that didn't happen. Josh was at games almost every night. He wasn't just in the gym. J-Ho was talking to the crowd, breaking bread with old friends, giving kids advice and simply sharing his time with the community. [...] And, he doesn't do things for media attention or pats on the backs. He does things for the love of his community.
Good move for Howard. This is just the kind of positive publicity he could use after the pounding his reputation took last April. This should help change the minds of all those casual fans who only know his name because he's an
admitted pot smoker who
likes to party. Now if he could only keep his nose clean long enough for people to --
whoops! Dallas Mavericks guard Josh Howard was arrested and charged Thursday after a Winston-Salem police officer said he spotted him drag racing at 94 mph with another vehicle on Silas Creek Parkway near Highway 421. The 28-year-old has been charged with drag racing, exceeding the posted speed limit, and reckless driving to endanger.
Ouch. That's a horrible decision combined with even worse luck (the car he was allegedly racing apparently wasn't stopped). Howard has to appear in court on Sept. 23, which means this story will re-surface in the news just in time for the week before training camps open. Time to start fixing that rep all over again.

Hahahaha. Mavericks are done this year anyways. Old man Kidd just doesn't have it anymore and Josh Howard looks like he's sleeping out there on the court. Should've kept Harris....

Josh Howard, you're a moron. Stop putting yourself and the public in danger by street racing. If you want to drag race, give former NBA player, Tom Hammonds, a call. He's been racing professionally in the NHRA for years.

JOSH, I CAN'T BELIVE YOU WOULD PUT YOURSELF IN SUCH AN INSAFE ENVIROMENT. DRAG RACING IS DONE AT A DRAG STRIP WHERE THERE ARE A NUMBER OF SAFETY PEOPLE AND THERE ARE LOTS OF RULES TO FOLLOW.
STREET RACING IS DONE WHERE MORONS LIKE YOURSELF CHOOSE TO DRIVE.
PLEASE DON'T INSULT THE PEOPLE THAT UNDERSTAND THE SPORT. GO TO THE TRACK.

It doesn't really matter. The Celts are going to win it all, probably against the Lakers again anyway. Just a fact. They're the new big 3. You gotta have 3 big time players to win it all in the NBA and the Celts look to have the 3 that can come up big more than any other trio in the league. Just a fact.

I'm sure he wasn't wreckless, & i'm sure he didnt endanger anyone..... i just drove home on an uncroweded freeway, on 1 beer, at .03 blood alcohol level, did 130 the entire way home, in my totally sanitary SRT-8.... i endangered nobody... i was anything but wreckless.... the only wreckless person was the gook driving in the fast lane at 54 mph... if we all drove 90+, there would be no traffic..... but people cant chew gum & think at the same time, so we're ultimately F'd, yet we wanna call this guy wreckless.... in the car he was in, 90+ was safe, & actually SLOW.......

hold up on that carwash gentlemen. josh howard does a bunch for winston salem. my son plays at the rec center he does the tournament at. because josh is invloved with the community many kids have an opportunity that they may not have otherwise had. on the drag racing charge give me a break. these wspd cops have nothing better to do than set up on the west side looking for speeders. it beats actually going to east winston and dealing with the crackheads. i mean the city loses money when they pick up a crack head but makes tons of money when they can write a ticket for drag racing. geez i didnt even realize that was still on the books. we all know his crime. its DWB. and how did they not get the other car. it was a silver volkswagen. josh was driving a lexus. thats a real drag race there.

Quite foolish to say the least. Everyone has this pegged correctly. Street racing is Dumb, and Drag racing is done at the track. Jaelyn called it right, just call Larry Nance or Tom Hammonds and get a real ride. They would all quit and render themselves and Cheap wanna be race cars useless after a ride in the Catch 22 Pro Mod Camaro.
