Hot on the heels of his hilarious training video, FanHouse is honored to have none other than USA Basketball star Chris Bosh checking in with us live from Beijing. Bosh sent us an e-mail today and checks in with his impressions of China, what it meant to beat Greece in group play, and his thoughts on the Olympics overall. Check back for more updates from the gold medal hopeful (or go to his site for more from CB4), but in the meantime, here's what Bosh has to say:
We've been in China for over two weeks now and so far, it's been a great trip. I've experienced a lot of new things and cultures that I've never experienced before. We've been playing pretty well in the exhibitions and pool play and now we have redeemed ourselves against Greece. No one on our team had forgotten about the game they beat us in two years ago so It was a great opportunity for us to take advantage of.
I want everyone to know if they ever get a chance to go to the Olympics, whether you're going to be a spectator or an athlete, you should go. It's been amazing! Everything from the Opening Ceremony to the sporting events to the different venues have been a spectacular. This is something special and I really feel that way when I see people stand on that podium to receive their Gold Medal. Every time I watch that, I get chills and I hope that I get that chance too.
I still have to see some swimming events and track and field hasn't even started yet so there's still a lot to do. I got the chance to see the women's team play and I also went to the boxing matches a couple of days ago. I still want to see Michael Phelps, but it's tough to get tickets for that because he's on fire right now. There are so many different events that it's hard to coordinate which ones to go to. Gymnastics is still going on too and I'm sure that will be great to watch. I'll make sure I schedule everything right so I can see everything I want to see.
The other day I had the chance to visit the Great Wall of China and that was awesome. We had to take a 2 hour bus ride early in the morning just to get out there. When we got there It took a while to make the walk up because it's such a steep mountain. You have the option of taking a hike all the way up the mountain and that takes an hour and a half or you can ride the car lifts to the top. Since I'm not that adventurous, I walked for about 10 minutes to the car lifts and rode them up the hill. The walk to the car lifts was tough enough so I couldn't imagine walking the whole way up.
Once we got up there, I saw a beautiful view of China. I really don't see how that wall was built because it's on a very steep hill/mountain and it goes as far as the eye can see in both directions. If you ever get the chance to visit, make sure you're in some kind of shape because it's no joke. It's a lot of walking and it's a great workout for your legs and you might be sore the next day so have the epsom salts ready.
Well, I've got to go to practice to get ready for our next game. Wish us luck, the competition is about to get a lot tougher.
Here's a photo I took from the Great Wall.
-Chris

Bosh has made himself valuable by simply playing good pick and roll defense near the perimeter. Great player!

Chris, thanks for taking time out your hectic schedule to let us share and experience a piece of China. It is my dream also to one visit China and see the Great Wall. I am truly honored to have a young man like yourself represent the U.S. in the Olympics.
