Luke Walton has been teased by his teammates from time to time for being a "pretty boy" that the ladies are fond of, but one female took things way too far. An obsessed fan was apparently following Luke around town doing the full blown stalking thing, and Luke told Kevin Ding of the OC Register how it all played out. Some of it definitely sounds a little scary. "She seemed nice enough (when she first began appearing regularly outside the Lakers' El Segundo practice facility for autographs), and there are a lot of people who are out there all the time. I would sign stuff for them most of the time, but every once in a while you're in a rush trying to get somwhere after practice. So one time I waved and said I had to be somewhere. And I saw her reach her pen out, and I didn't think anything of it, and when I got to my house, I saw I had a big blue mark all down the side of my car from her Sharpie pen. So then I was like, 'That's messed up. I sign stuff for her all the time. Now she does that; I'm not going to sign anything for her anymore.' That's before I knew she was stalking me."
"It was more an annoyance than anything else until recently when she did that gun thing (gesturing at him with her hand as if shooting at him). And then I was like, 'All right. Now she's crossed the line."
I would have thought that the Sharpie incident, along with the whole "sitting for hours in a parked car with tinted windows in front of my house" thing was crossing the line, but a freaking gun gesture?! Yeah Luke, I'd say that's definitely crossing the line.
NBA players have fairly regular schedules during the season, so it wouldn't be that difficult for someone to make a habit of seeing their favorite player on an almost daily basis. Honestly, I'm surprised we don't come across more stories like this one -- but I'm thankful that we don't. Luke finally got the police involved, so let's hope this is the last we hear of this.

What a crazy woman. Why do people do that stuff? Maybe she takes psychotropics that make her goofy or something.

I don't understand sbv's comment about Luke being a bum. Does it make him a bum because we don't hear his name on every ESPN broadcast for drug and alcohol use? I'm not a Lakers fan but I think Luke Walton is probably one of the best examples of what a professional athlete should be like on and off the playing floor.

Now I'm no big sport enthusiast, in fact it bores me to tears, but this is a case where I'm on the side of the athlete, or celeb in general. Everyone deserves their privacy. It is unfortunate that there are nut-cases out there, members of the press included, that will stalk celebs in the mistaken belief that everything a celeb does is newsworthy or a photo op and celebs MUST cooperate. I hope this woman gets the help she needs, but I also hope she's served with a good strong restraining order.

So how would you feel if you ahd a stalker and someone said you just wanted attention due to the fact that no one has heard of you more than the line up at game time? or on afew papers for work? it is people like you that make it hard for the average joe to report stalking even more so when that average joe is an athlete on a team that hardly any one uses their name!! he wasnt looking for attention he was trying to get rid of it!!

A stalker is a stalker no matter who you are. Until you've been in Walton's or my shoes, you'll NEVER get it nor understand how scary and freaky it is.

Hey Dave,
Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Mario Lopez? I just don't get the appeal of the three you have chosen. They are attractive I suppose but rather dull looking. Rather 2 dimensional, even in person. The "lights on but no one is home" syndrome.

All sports need more clean-cut, upstanding young athletes like Walton. He is a great example for young people everywhere. In a sports-world atmosphere of foul-mouthed, uneducated "heroes" he is a light in the darkness!!! He was absolutely right to call in the police in today's crazy world ... good for you Luke.

Bump you said you would have slept with this woman but don't forget most stalkers are as mentally unstable like a serial killer. If you saw the movie Misery that is what a stalker is like. Marlon Brandon once slept with his female stalker. He was disturbed by her so much that he developed an eating disorder and became overweight. Don't forget that in the early 90s a female fan in Toronto sky dome was caught with a gun that she was going to use on Blue Jays second baseman Robbie Alomar. Also during 1997 spring training an Indians fan was caught on the field with a gun saying he was going after Albert Belle. Belle has just signed with the White Sox after abandoning the Indians. Don't forget Eddie Waitkus of the Phillies was shot by a female fan in 1950 after she was stalking him. He had to have lung surgery. Waitkus had never met her before. Stalkers can be very dangerous because if you ever say no in any way, they'll want to kill you.
