The press release just dropped from the Portland Trail Blazers detailing the severity of Greg Oden's injury. The Blazers say that the injury is a mid-foot avulsion fracture that will hold him out of the line up for the next 2-4 weeks. This is good news for the Blazers, as the injury could have been much worse. However, the NBA might not be feeling the injury so much, as they had plans to highlight Oden in match ups against Shaquille O'neal, Dwight Howard, Yao Ming, and Tim Duncan over the next two weeks. Of course all of those games are nationally televised games, so it is a real blow to the league's promotional efforts to have Oden out right now.
Despite the promotional harm to the league, this is pretty much good news for the Blazers and their fans. I guess all you Blazer fans thinking about jumping off the ledge of your balcony can now step back in the building.

Yes Blazers fans, come step back in from the ledge you were about to jump off....oh wait!!...that is until Greg Oden suffers another injury. That guy is fast becoming one of the most overhyped busts in league history.
I predicted such;
Oden is NOT Bill Walton;
Walton = 2 championships in college and 2 rings in the NBA;
Oden = 0 in college and demolish by Al Hortford TWICE !
DONE !
What happened against the Lakers was purely bad luck and nothing else. It could have happened to any player in the league. To say that he is a bust is ridiculous, ignorant, and premature. Give the guy a chance. He's had some bad luck but is going to come back in a couple weeks and show what he can do. He's going to take a while before he's really back in the shape he was in before his surgery last year but he'll get there. The Blazers are going to be scary around February or March.
