I just watched Barack Obama's speech, so I shot this video after midnight on election night. I think this is the right guy to lead this country. Congratulations Barack and congratulations everybody. Check out the full video below.
You are missing the whole pont. It is not about race. What is is about is the people voting for who they feel can set this country back on track. Howver, al;ong with that he happens to be an African American. People are so elated because for the first time in history, an African American has been elected for President of the United States of America, No, it not about race. It is about change. It is about us coming together finally as a nation without looking at the color of someone's skin color. You are not consiered a rqcist because you talk about white history. We have listened to white history all our lives. So don't hate because we are proud that Barack Obama has made history. You probably will never understand.
@wes ... How is it campaigning if Obama's already been elected to office? He's reacting, not promoting. And last I checked, pro athletes were still American citizens, meaning they're allowed to have opinions; even those you might not agree with.
Basketball happens to be this man's job just like the job you have. He has the right to express his feelings just like you do. Stop being so judgemental and try for once to have a positive attitude so we can get this country back on its feet.
Dear Wes and Dumbfounded, The mere fact that the two of you are voicing those comments and don't hear how you sound, speaks to the very reason why this is such an important moment in BLACK HISTORY. For the first time in a long time American's did the RIGHT THING. Bosh is not an idiot, he is a PROUD BLACK AMERICAN, which at this very moment he has every right to be. Further more, we do have the RIGHT BLACK MAN in office now. A highly educated, strong, intelligent blackman, not one with a "C" average or a washed up warhero living in the past or a 4 communitiy college graduate with an 8 year bachelor degree. Additionally, with respect to PRESIDENT OBAMA's policies most black american's read them online. If your above comments are reflective of how you feel the day after America elected its first Black President, you should seriously get on your knees and ask God to move within your heart. Change starts on the inside. Lastly, we've been living whitehistory for centuries now, look where it got us.
We say black history because that is what it's been called. American history (although it involves slavery and the struggle out of it) is, according to the school system, or at least it seems to me that it never included black americans. They've been called African Americans to make sure that everybody remembers their roots and never thinks of blacks as just Americans. The natives have also have a prefix added to their names, Native Americans. And that leaves the whites, who are of course just Americans, and not European Americans. As a black man I did not vote for him because of his race, I would not have voted for Condoleeza Rice had she been on McCain's ticket. And yes, part of the reason his got the landslide win was because of the fail policies of the current administration. But just remember the country elected President Elect Obama, not the blacks or the "African Americans." It's time to pull together and be real Americans under our new leader.
I have no problem with what Bosh said. He is proud and he has every right to be. The problem I have with all the negative comments about President Obama is that the same people who say black people voted for him because he was black didn't vote for him because he was black. Blacks only make up 13% of U.S. population so obviously it was mor ethan just Blacks who put him in office. I voted for President Obama and I am very proud on him being our next commander and chief. I am also proud that he is Black because it is history making. I was happy to see a black man running and it's not from police on my local news or some episode of cops. stop hatin and get over yourselves. I have been taught about white history all my life. It's wonderful and inspiring to see what President Obama has achieved!!!
Well said mds. I am a white woman, and Obama had my vote from the start. I thought he was the best person for the job, and I am so proud of this country for agreeing. Look at the diverse crowd that was at Grant Park last night. He won the vote of all kinds of Americans, not just black Americans. I will never forget last night as long as I live.
My vote for Obama was not because he is black it was for his vision, intellect and his ability to relate to all the people of america. For too long many presidents have serve only the few of americans who selfishly wish to leave the rest of america improvished and un represented. Enough! Obama will be a president of the people for the people. America can not continue to lead the world with hatred, war mongering, greed and racisim to satisfy the few. America has spoken!
Why is it that you can have an opion on the matter and he can't. Can he have an opion even though he is a sports figure or entertianer? It seems as if you have a bit of soul searching to do my friend. Wake up, and lets stop dividing ourselves.
eileen it's sad that you are stuck in ME moments of the past exactly how many times did you say "I" in that sentence. Of course "You" don't want "Your" life to change selfish people never want to share good things with others because as we see with you it's ALL about YOU! and never about the rest of us!
and as far as Jewish presidents go some have done research and found there were Jewish Presidents not that it matters
It really is a shame that most black people voted for a man soley on the fact that he is black. Instead of voting for a man due to his policies, people voted just because he was black...shameful. I would have no problem if this man won because people believed in his policies. However, people I ask don't even know what his policies are, just that he stood for change. This was a popularity contest. We need the RIGHT black man as president, not just any black man. We just voted for any black man. If you disagree, please explain to me what exactly his credentials are to be President of the U.S.? What has he done?
I am a young black female (MIDDLE CLASS) DEMOCRAT since i was able to vote.... and yes I also voted for OBAMA! Yes i can say that I voted for him 1. Because he is black and we have been waiting for that chance 2. Because he is ready for a CHANGE in AMERICA! 3. He is willing to help those who really need the help (middle/lower-class) 4. He wants to help children with medical care that most children dont have and Parents cant afford. 5. BRING OUR TROOPS HOME! and STOP WAR!...Its not mainly because he is black there is alot of problems that needs to be fixed not saying that the day that he steps in to the WHITE HOUSE everything will change but we atleast have to give him a chance. We have had a republican in office for the last 8 years and everything was not the way we hoped for thats why i choose to vote for OBAMA!
to dumbfounded first of all not every black person voted for Obama just because he was Black and even if they did all of a sudden people like you are having a problem with that even though we haven't had the "right white guy" for years. All I say is have a coke and a smile and pick someone a little more qualified to read the teleprompter to run against him next time!
Nobody needs an explanation for anything that has happened over the past 2 years...this man dedicated his life to making sure he is the right man for the job...the "American People" spoke up...not just black people...the majority white vote backed him up...the majority women voter backed him up...how about you do some research and ask yourself why nobody wanted John McCain as president...and you will answer your own questions...I thought that both of these gentleman had what it took to complete the task...but when it was all said and done it was Obama that won and not just win he crushed him...so what does that tell you...that we have surpassed racial boundaries in this country and look passed what color someone is but what he stands for...
solely based,??? I wont disagree that PRES. OBAMA had an advantage with the black voters because he was black. You are correct. But mccain had an advantage with the white voters for the same reason because he was white. SO please stress your point. People pay attention to those who they feel they can relate to most. once you have ppls attention you have to keep it. The turn out for OBAMA was the youth voters ages 18-25 and the Latino voters explain why they favored OBAMA? its crazy how one black face can upset a nation. don't worry there will be many more white guys who can run. OR MAYBE A MEXICAN AMERICAN bet that really scares you racist redneck conservs. besides its not like g.bush II is running again. LoL
The question should be what are the qualifications to be president? I cannnot think of any first term president who had any experience that qualified him for the job before he took office. Most have been senators governors lawyers generals and yes war heros. Some have not even had college educations but have been effective leaders such as Harry Truman.Whatever Obama lacks in the way of qualifications for the job I do not know but his party along with the American people felt that a Harvard trained lawyer that graduate at the top of his class and has served 8 years as a senator for the state of Illonios, and 2 years as a US senator is ready to lead this nation out of the mess we find ourselves in.

88 percent of Black people voted for John Kerry! 90 percent were expected to vote for Obama. That's a whopping 2 percent increase.
His policies are laid out on his website. He is lowering taxes for most Americans, etc.
