In perhaps the least shocking story of the day, the meeting that was supposed to resolve the rapidly deteriorating situation between the New York Knicks and Stephon Marbury ended up resolving absolutely nothing.

Marbury showed up to the meeting about 30 minutes late, and the most interesting part of the story was this tidbit about his choice of parking spaces for his Rolls Royce:
The meeting was scheduled for 2 p.m. Marbury arrived around 2:30 p.m. and parked his Rolls Royce in the public parking lot, rather than the players' lot. Fifteen minutes later, he walked back through the lobby and returned to his car, but did not leave.
That's hilarious, and, like, super-subtle. See, he didn't park in the player's lot because he no longer considers himself a player! The evil genius of Starbury has been officially underestimated.

In all seriousness, this is going to be a question of who blinks first, and it might be neither party. Marbury has made it clear that he wants all of his money, and the Knicks have made it clear that they want a discount for buying out his contract. Since neither side seems willing to make a move yet, I guess it's up to Marbury to see how much more of a cancer he needs to be to force the team's hand in sending him out of town.

UPDATE: Donnie Walsh has banned Marbury from team activities; details after the jump.

In a statement, Walsh said: "After meeing with Stephon and his representative this afternoon, we have directed Stephon not to participate in practice or attend games until further notice. We want to continue to meet with him to discuss a long-term resolution."
By taking this action -- obviously with the players' union's consent -- it appears the Knicks are determined to put an end to this saga once and for all. The only questions that remain are of when and at what cost.
