Every night there are some stupendous, silly, stupid, or downright outlandish individual lines from around the lig. Doing Lines lets you know which one tops the list.Want to know why every sane NBA fan fears Andrew Bynum? Because of 42 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks ... in 36 minutes ... on roughly 31 individual possessions ... shooting 70% from the floor ... against ... well, against DeAndre Jordan. <tuba> But whatevs! Scrubs don't go for 42/15/3 against anyone.
40/15/3 has only been done seven other times this decade. Only one of those efforts (by Alonzo Mourning in 2000) came in fewer minutes than that with which Bynum had to tally his steez. The question is whether Bynum can do it again: since 1986-87, only five players have gone 40/15/3 multiple times in their career.
Nomare: The Phoenix-bred vitriol against Amare Stoudemire this season has been astounding, but he's not really helping himself out there. Following up that dreadful performance against Boston, Stoudemire had only four rebounds in 39 minutes and shot 35% from the floor against the bad defense of the Knicks. Amare's usually a hyper-efficient scorer, but if he's not doing that well he's not really offering much out there.
On the other hand ...: Amare's foil, David Lee, had a somewhat better performance: 25 points on nearly 60% shooting, and 16 rebounds. This game had all sorts of superlatives. Steve Nash had a whopping 19 assists and four turnovers, Nate Robinson had 20 points, four rebounds, four assists, four steals. Jason Richardson had 27/9. And as far as I know, no one insulted Danilo Gallinari.

With how the media showers this guy with praise you would think he would do this at least once a week (esp. with all the help he has on the team to distract defenses and help him get easy scores unlike young big men on horrible teams that get the full attention of defenses). I mean its almost ridiculous the expectations they put on him. Why did no one talk about how horrible he was doing? He has one really good game (against scrub interior D who's shorter and smaller then Bynum)

you must have NO IDEA what you're talking about because either 1) your history on his development sucks or 2) you're just plain...fill in the blank. But seriously, i'm guessing you're forgetting that two seasons ago people were talking about how much of a disappointment he was, and kobe was DEMANDING that he be traded. Then last year before his knee injury lots of people were saying that he could have won the most improved player award. You must have a memory like a goldfish...give credit where its due.

He scored 42 against an out of shape 6'7 Brian Skinner and a 19 year old rookie making his second start.
Let's talk about how DeAndre Jordan shat all over him on the other end of the floor. He was 11-12 against Bynum. Bynum is slow and couldn't keep up with Jordan on the other end.
He has a lot of work to do and a long way to come. His stat line is a pig with lipstick.

SlimbaD were you talkin to me or the writer? I wasnt talkin about anything but this year. Its like Bynum got all this praise over the summer like he is ALREADY an Allstar top 10 player or somethin. And then he started ok this year but had a horrible strech were he was just horrible and hardly anyone said a word but they he has one night like this (and i LOVE #5's comment) against some HORRIBLE interior defensive players, and the media is all over it.
And if nabpd was talkin to me - im a Hornets fan . Live on the coast in MS. HATE Boston . Loved all their big 3 before they got together just for the simple fact of how they got together. Youd think that Lebron, Wade, and Bosh would all just take half the amount of money they normally would and all join up and just win like 6 or 7 ships in a row.

Uh, DeAndre put up 23/12/4. So it's not as if Bynum was a dominant force out there... more like there was little interior defense played.

To follow up on that point:
JaVale McGee: 18 points, 9 boards, 2 steals, 2 blocks
...in only 22 minutes.

In the Clipper game, Jordan scored half his buckets when Pau was guarding him. In the Wizards game, Bynum guarded Andray Blatche pretty much the whole time he was in, and McGee scored 12 of his 18 points in the final eight minutes of the game, when he was being "guarded" by a rusty Chris Mihm who was put in when the Lakers pushed the lead to 34.

For those of you who doubt whether Bynum is for real or not, remember how he was dominating day in and day out last year before the injury that took away his most improved player award and NBA Championship ring.
Since he came back from the injury at the beginning of this year he has appeared to be hesitant to even get involved in the offense leaving it all up to Kobe and Pau to get the work done.
Working with likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kurt Rambis and hopefully James Worthy (cuz it seems like some of the moves he's throwing down lately are throwbacks to some of the moves that Big Game James used to do) and also the HEAVY local media critiscm that he has been receiving seem to have turned on the light upstairs.
As recently as three weeks ago I was getting upset with Andrew because he was spending more time setting screens for Kobe at the top of the key instead of setting up down low and setting the table. He is posting a HELLUVA lot more lately and bearing the fruits of his work. Now it seems like the offense is being initiated through him while his teammates look to him for easy inside baskets. This makes the work load a lot easier for Kobe and Gasol. Kobes minutes and scoring are down lately but his assists are skyrocketing.
Are you kidding me? Bynum being double teamed and leaving three defenders to take care of Kobe, Gasol, Fisher, VladRad, L.O. and Sasha. It's too much man, tooo much!!
GO LAKERS!!!
