AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Doc Rivers has already made it clear how disappointed he is that Ray Allen won't be joining Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce for the All-Star game in Phoenix, but I had a chance to hear from Allen himself what he thought about the situation. While certainly disappointed, he refuses to begrudge any of the guys who got the nod ahead of him. "I'm happy for Paul, I'm happy for Kevin, I'd like to see Eddie [House] participate in the three-point contest, and [Rajon] Rondo be part of the skills challenge," Allen said before Friday's game against the Pistons. "I think we definitely should be represented [as] one of the best teams in the league. That's the bright side of it."
He continued: "I always tip my hat to the ones who don't make it, because on the flip side of it, when I made it over the years, there's always the criticism [from] guys who didn't make it. One year I made it ... I missed a couple of games that year, and these guys were barking about I shouldn't make it because I missed this many games."
That criticism has stuck with him, and it's allowed him to stay positive now. "I will never be mad at somebody else for a coach or the league picking certain players because not everybody is going to be there," Allen said. "And we all as players, we fight hard. Not all the times we're going to be happy with the choices that are made, but it's just sometimes you have to work a little harder."

In hindsight, it shouldn't be a surprise that Allen is taking his snub in stride -- he's such a positive guy that he's able to find the silver lining in anything -- including this year's unusually cold winter.
"This is probably the one year where I've really gone to a store and looked at scarfs," Allen joked. "I've never looked at scarfs before. Even more than last year, it's colder that it was last year. I think even if you look at our schedule I think we're in colder cities at the wrong time for the weather this year. So I've definitely been dressing warmer."
And scarfs, in Allen's eyes, make sub-zero windchill worth it. "Accessorizing is the best thing in the winter, because that's the one thing that you have to hold against people that live in warm weather. They always tell us, 'It's 80 degrees out there!' But I get to dress nicer. I get to accessorize, I get to wear a scarf and a hat, you can't wear that."
I'll have to keep that in mind the next time I have to drive an hour in the snow while Brett Pollakoff, who's based in Phoenix, enjoys his 20-minute commute to the US Airways Center in Phoenix. Enjoy that sunshine, Brett; I get to wear a scarf.

Ray's my hero. Best player ever from UConn. He's the most unselfish you'll see bar none. So glad he came to Boston.

Allen got snubbed hard. He really deserved to be in the all-star game. He's been the most consistent guy in Boston this year. They should of taken him over PP

My boy Allen got snubbed again. He has been the most consistent guy in Boston this year and deserves to be on the All-Star team instead of PP
