Doing Lines: Deron Williams Abuses Jason Kidd

Every night there are some stupendous, silly, stupid, or downright outlandish individual lines from around the lig. Doing Lines lets you know which one tops the list.

Jason Kidd was once a very good point guard, but it's not controversial to say that he is now just a shell of his former self. Proof of this came Thursday night when matched up against Deron Williams. Williams absolutely gave Grandpa Kidd the business, scoring 34 points (on 20 shots) and dishing 11 assists. He also blew by Kidd all night with speed, quickness, and some sick cross-over dribbles. There's no way Williams does that to Kidd pre-2004. But that's life. Even the great ones have to slow down at some point.

We Don't Need No Stinking Elton Brand: Okay, so no one said that. But that's the mentality Samuel Dalembert played with on Thursday night against the Pacers. Dalembert scored 18 points and pulled down a Dwight Howard like 20 rebounds. Now that they don't have Elton Brand's status hanging over their head, I have a feeling that the Sixers might get it together and put on a run like they did last season.

Who Said Pau Gasol Was Soft?
: Pau Gasol did his thing against the Celtics, scoring 24 points (on 10-14 shooting) and grabbing 14 rebounds. Someone please tell Sasha Vujacic to toss his Machine nickname over to the Lakers' real automatic, efficient, Machine. Anyhow, I hope people stop saying that Gasol is soft or can't handle the Celtics. That's twice this season that he has been able to do his thing against the C's. And both games have resulted in Lakers victories.
