Jason Richardson has only been in Phoenix for a few months (28 games to be exact), but it would be tough to blame him for taking part in the All-Star festivities in his new home this weekend. However, it's tough to not get angry at him for driving 90 mph in a 35 mph zone while having an unrestrained three-year-old toddler in his car. Which is exactly what he was arrested for Sunday evening, bringing about a littany of charges including endangerment, two counts of excessive speed, reckless driving and failure to use a child seat.
According to Scottsdale police, an officer clocked Jason Richardson doing 67 mph in a 40-mph zone in the area of 65th Street and Camelback Road shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday. And the worst part, of course, is that his three-year-old son was in the backseat without a restraining car seat, as required by Phoenix law. Arguably, he might not know that law, but it still doesn't excuse the speeding, to which Richardson copped, according to the police.
Sgt. Mark Clark said the officer followed Richardson onto 64th Street, where Richardson's car hit speeds up to 90 mph. The speed limit there is 35 mph.
Apparently, Richardson will face "a variety of misdemeanor and traffic charges" with endangerment, reckless driving, two counts of excessive speed and failure to use a child seat among them.

What the hell is wrong with him??? How irresponsible is that?
Gee i'm not shocked. All these over priced so called super stars and hollywood pukes think they are special. Well they are right. If some normal person were to do that we would spend time in jail no matter what our record looks like. These people just say hey i'm so and so and they get off with a pat on the back and an autograph on their picture. I just wish for once that everyone was treated the same and paid the price that the average person pays.
DAH, IQ and basketball don't mix
I can't cast a stone...We as humans err in life..I would like to make a comment at least in this case..I have a child and as such have thought about this story...
I would do a lot of things with my child..Drive 60 miles over the speed limit? Yikes!
This one makes me worried as to his state of mind. I would ask you all to keep them in prayer to hope this situation is resolved peacefully.
well said
It's tough being from MSU. First Plaxico, now Jason. What a fool.
Hey don't blame MSU for JR and Plax! lol. Those 2 jokers didn't gradiate. Both were drafted after 2 years, so blame the pros not MSU. The pros steel our babies before collige can edoocate em proper. Then the pro pimps teach em. That's all part of membership in the pro gang: doin felonies, bein bad bois. If they got their full 4 years of sCoolin', they mighta got smarter about how to be stupid. lmao.
Arrested? Who the #@#* does he think he is? An NFL player?
What this story fails to say is he will be in this is court tomorrow on the dwi he got in December. When will these over paid idiots ever learn. Local radio there in Phoenix say the first thing he told the cop was that he was a member of the Suns. Sounds like he was trying to get out of the ticket. Glad the cop idi his job.
Everyone on here has been guilty of this-stop lying to yourselves.
I doubt anyone posting here has ever done 90 mph with an unrestrained child in the car. And in a 35 zone, no less. This dude is severely irresponsible.

Guess he did not make it to the after all star party he was cohosting last night.
VICK***PHELPS***OJ***IT GOES ON AND ON!!THESE GUYS ARE CRIMINALS!THEY SHOULD ALL BE IN PRISON.
Isn't this is the way most black fathers, if they don't desert, take care of their children?
May be most people in your circle have done this but 90% of America doesn't drive 90 in a 35 with a baby unrestrained in the back seat. You must be a bum.
One more time. Money changes the type of car you drive. Not the person inside.
Hey Danny - Phelps isn't going to face charges, so you can take his name off your list.
With almost every professional league hit by controversies, when will the NBA get rid of these bad asses? We don't want to pay and see these kind of players especially now that almost everyone is banckrupt. Mr. Stern should do more drastic action for this kind of dangerous acts.
I don't have any kids, so I don't know the laws regarding child restraints, but I'm amazed that in today's society child endangerment is still only a misdemeanor. Thank God he never had to slam on the brakes for anything--the nightmares would be worse than any punishment society could dish out.
