Kevin Garnett to Get MRI on Knee

The Celtics dropped a tough one in Utah Thursday night, thanks to a big-time shot from Deron Williams. But things might have turned out differently had Kevin Garnett been able to play in the second half.

KG left the game late in the second quarter after straining his right knee when he went up to try to get a high alley-oop pass from Paul Pierce. Garnett was already wearing a wrap on the knee, as it had been sore for a couple of weeks.

Things didn't look promising when KG hopped into the locker room, but he did return to warm up for the second half to try to see if he could go -- he could not. With 26 games left in the regular season, why risk it? And that seems to be exactly the team's mentality.

The Celtics sent Garnett back to Boston to undergo the obligatory MRI exam, and it's likely that they'll finish their current West coast roadie without him. The team's next three games are in Phoenix, Denver, and Los Angeles (Clippers), and KG is expected to miss anywhere from one to four weeks.
