It's one thing for wishful media-types to bang the "LeBron James belongs in New York!" drum, but it's another for NBA players to do so. In an otherwise predictable Q&A with the New York Post published Sunday, Nate Robinson was asked to make his best pitch for LeBron to join the Knicks in 2010, which he happily obliged.
Well, he already knows the city would be his. He's already on billboards and everything in New York City. It'll be sellouts. . . . The crowds are gonna love him regardless. There's like no other place like playing here in the city. This is the best city . . . and (the Knicks) have the best colors - orange, white and blue. I'd tell him he can probably design any kind of jersey he wanted (laughs). We'll have a different jersey for every game - we'll let you do that if you come to the Knicks.I don't think there's a player in the league who'd deny wanting to be teammates with LeBron, but it's funny to see one openly discussing it. Knicks beat reporter Marc Berman recently listed examples of the Knicks not knowing how to carry themselves like a winning team, and at the risk of making a mountain out of a mole hill, I'd add Robinson's answer to the list.
I feel like an out-of-touch, mean-spirited cynic saying so (he was merely playing along with a reporter's question, and it's not like he actually said anything controversial) but still, teams who think like winners don't joke about how much a free agent could help them improve.
Now that I've angered Nate Robinson fans everywhere, I have some news that will disappoint them: a lot of people recently stated following a Twitter impersonator alleging to be him. But following a tip from FanHouse's own Nate Jones (@jonesonthenba), Howard Beck of the New York Times confirmed with Robinson that it's a fake. You New Yorkers are smoking something if you think Lebron is going to leave Cleveland after the team is finally going to be a power house for years to come. Why would he want to go thru the re-building all over again and waste another 5 years? Keep dreaming, Lebron is here to stay until he retires

Umm...this is a non-issue. Nate's the man, but LeBron isn't going anywhere. NY can't even pay him as much as Cleveland. And he wants a ring. Sorry.
