Doing Lines: Michael Finley Breathes

Every night there are some stupendous, silly, stupid, or downright outlandish individual lines from around the "lig." Doing Lines lets you know which one tops the list.

Michael Finley turned 36 last week, and it shows. For a year-and-a-half now, he's looked like a parody of his old self, a half-substantiated ghost of the glory years fighting through screens and breaking off jab steps for the Nellietastic Mavericks.

Fin's scoring has fallen down a well, with his shot frequency at a comical career low. But in this role as a designated shooter for the Spurs, his efficiency remains strong -- his shooting percentages high. Because of that, and because he has memories of dropping 40 repeatedly, he can occasionally toss out a gem. Like 25 points against the Lakers. Neither Matt Bonner nor Roger Mason had it Thursday night, but Fin helped the Spurs get back into the game. It wasn't enough, of course, but it served as a nice reminder of the forgotten man heading into the stretch run.

Three Times the Fun: Perhaps LeBron James should have registered a late foul that could have altered the game, but there's no denying his overall impact: 34 points, 10 rebounds, 13 assists, three steals and three blocks. That's his third straight triple-double, with Sacramento on the docket tonight.
