Every night there are some stupendous, silly, stupid, or downright outlandish individual lines from around the "lig." Doing Lines lets you know which one tops the list.Miami has two options this summer. The Heat can continue to be a legitimate one-man band, or it can get hooked up with some shady underground biotechnician and clone Dwyane Wade. Your choice, Heat.
Wade went ballistic (again) with 42 points on 34 FGAs and 13 FTAs. He added four rebounds, four assists, four steals and a block. And only one turnover. I mention turnovers quite frequently in Doing Lines, but just to be sure you grok my spit: one turnover in (effectively) 45 offensive possessions Wade is personally responsible for is ... unreal. Those 3.4 turnovers a game might look like a lot. But account for how much of the offense rests on his shoulders and ... yeah. B-E-A-S-T.
Why does he need clone friends? Because despite that mammoth performance, his team still lost by six to Orlando. :-(
Nothing Good: Not a dang good thing can happen when the Grizzlies and Warriors hook up. Well, for the Warriors at least. Memphis got frown-dissolving performances from O.J. Mayo (24 points, 10 assists), Mike Conley (21/6/6/4) and Rudy Gay (21/5/5 blocks). But Monta Ellis, no! Bad game for 'Ta -- with 29 points on 29 FGAs and five FTAs. Five assists? Five turnovers. This is not efficient basketball. Not efficient -- or inefficient, for you English department squares -- is not good. GSW loses by five.
A Fight: Wouldn't you know it, but the Knicks showed a sliver of backbone after falling behind the Jazz by 21 at the half. The Knicks got the lead to eight in the third, but ended up no closer in the, um, end. Your hero will be one Carlos Boozer, fine supplier of 21 points on 13 FGAs (and seven FTAs), with 11 rebounds and four steals to boot. Hurray, Jazz!

You do not understand the game of basketball. Winning basketball is determined by which team has themost points at the end of the game. Not which player puts up the most points, assists, rebounds or blocked shots. LeBron does whatever it takes for his team to win the game. He could put up higher numbers, but he understands to win you must have a balanced attack most nights. Understanding what it takes to win a particular game and executing that plan is what puts leBron above all ther basketball players.

I dont understand why you continue to praise Wade but give CP no credit for doing almost the same thing BUT WITH EVEN BETTER NUMBERS. Listen to this ok - Chris Paul averages more assists, rebounds (despite playing PG instead of SG and being 6 foot instead of 6'4" like Wade), steals, and shoots better from the field, 3point-line, and free throw line while ALSO AVERAGING LESS TURNOVERS then Wade. So Wade only averages more points and blocks then CP but since CP averages 3 more assists then Dwayne a game Chris is still responsible (through a combination of points and assists) for the same amount of points that Wade is. So Wade only outdoes CP in one things - he averages more blocks . And CP out does Wade in SEVEN things AND does it all more efficently!! Come on , if you know basketball you would notice this and see that CP now deserves to be in that conversation with Lebron, Wade, and Kobe...

And i can also say that CP has led his team to more wins in a tougher conference while putting up better and more effiecent numbers. I mean its a no brainer. And you cant say he has THAT much more help . Yes he does have West but Peja, Chandler, Posey, and Morrison all have been injured this year so he hasnt had that much help either. I mean he is doing all this better then Wade and more efficent even though he is 4 inches shorter. Oh yeah one more thing - CP is 3 1/2 years younger then Wade also. So there think about ALLLLLL of that and tell me CP doesnt deserve to be praised as much , if not more, then Wade.

Dude, you don't need to convince me. I'm on the front lines of Chris Paul Porn: http://nba.fanhouse.com/2008/05/05/the-rotation-chris-paul-has-no-ceiling/
There's an issue here, though: neither LeBron nor Paul played last night. This is Doing Lines, which discusses games for the day before.

OK, cantstopdrinkin, we get it, you LOVE Chris Paul. It's getting a little sickening, reading this post after post. Take a look at the list of NBA champions, and try to find one team who's leading scorer was their point guard. You won't find one! Yes, he is great, but he is required to score too much. This is where the shortcomings of Byron Scott come in to play. You mentioned in another post that Scott was responsible for Paul's progress. That may be true. But I don't think the Hornets will ever win with Scott. He was fired in NJ because he couldn"t deal w/veteran players that stood up to him.He seems to think N.O. has enough. THEY DON"T! AS long as CP has to do all that he does, he will have to go the Oscar/Tiny Archibald route to win anything. Not until this changes will CP be mentioned w/champions and all time greats. SO Chill, please.

Ok . Thats one post almost a year ago. How many have you had of D- Wade this year. Thats the only point im tryin to make fellas. He constantly has D-Wade up there post after post this year and i understand he has had some amazing games but to almost completely neglect someone who is doing everything BETTER and MORE EFFICENT (esp when this post highlights your love for less turnovers) its just ridiculous. Its like you have a man crush on Wade and just forgot out Chris Paul THIS YEAR. I remember that article you posted about Chris last year and loved that he was getting recognized for doing things no other player ever has (and like i keep saying my big thing about it is he is doing it more efficently). I understand Chris didnt play last night but he has played this year. Give me proof of your articles THIS YEAR about him. You dont have them because you have been ignoring him. Why dont you just put a link to an article about his rookie year ok. Same difference as the one you just tried to put in my face.

And Rich i understand they are a little thin in the bench but with Posey if they were healthy like last year they do have enough. I was at game 7 against the Spurs last year and that was the worst game we played and still almost won. The fact that a very young team like that took the vertern Spurs to 7 games their FIRST time in the playoffs tells you they could be a real good team. I do think we should have traded Peja this past offseason when his value was up from a healthy season last year becuase i knew his back wouldnt hold up for another season but they didnt. Anyway this whole "Doing Lines" thing isnt about championships so your comment doesnt make any sense being on here anyway. You really think Wade is gonna win a ring this year?????? He's been on here REPEATEDLY because of his stat lines and being effiecent. Well my point is there is someone out there putting up consistent better numbers while being even more effiecent then Wade and i havent seen him on here almost at all this season (if at all). And he's doing it against better competetion being in the west.

Oh and Tom i want your honest opinion on something. It might sound crazy at first but after you think about it I think it could be a real possibiliy. Lebron and Wade have both joked about playing with each other since the Olympics , with the most recent comments of Lebron saying he might be practicing with Wade in 2010 and smiling about it. Well the Thunder look to be one of the few teams with the room for 2 superstars. And not only do they have room for 2 but they have room to sign a smaller star also. They only have 13 million (!!!!!!!!!!!!)on the books for 2010 while still having Durant, Green, and Westbrook all under contract. i know when you hear Thunder you automactally say oh there's no way Lebron and Wade would wanna play there , but think about it. When they sit down that summer and look at where they want to go - Durant will already be an All-Star and one of the top 25 in the league, Westbrook will be a semi-star if not a star, and Green will be a great role player. So you combine the best 2 players in the league with those 3 and Lebron's got a shot at Jordan's 6 rings. Hands down that team would be a monster. And its realistic because they actually DO have the cap room to sign 2 big time players and dont have to make moves to get the room.
