Every night there are some stupendous, silly, stupid, or downright outlandish individual lines from around the "lig." Doing Lines lets you know which one tops the list. The idea that the production of any star for a bad team needs to be discounted is a bad cliché. But NBA discounts do exist: when you play a bad defense, your production might be a bit inflated.
Three stud guards saw such nights on Wednesday, with Chris Paul at the frontier against the Clippers (the NBA's No. 27 defense). In a 94-possession game, Paul went for an astounding 30 points on 19 FGAs, 14 assists and six steals. Goodness gracious.
Kevin Martin and Monta Ellis did their business opposite each other, or more accurately opposite each other's awful team defenses. Martin went ballistic, racking up his first career 50-point game, finishing with (err) 50 points on 22 FGAs (read that again) and 23-26 on free throws. Ellis got 42 points and the win, but added nine assists and nine rebounds. A stunning game to watch, really.
Difficulty Level: Hard -- Steve Nash had a tougher challenge, facing the (rightly) vaunted Houston defense. No matter: 25 points on 15 FGAs and 17 assists versus one turnover for your floppy-haired hero.
