Every night there are some stupendous, silly, stupid, or downright outlandish individual lines from around the "lig." Doing Lines lets you know which one tops the list. One of the factors leading to the lack of respect Chris Paul receives from some quarters is that his numbers often look muted. Sure, 22 points, 11 assists and three steals a game looks lovely. But it doesn't get mentioned with the gaudy numbers of Wade or Kobe. Paul's Q rating comes from his leadership and playmaking, not his stat line. That's criminal! His stat line is amazing.
New Orleans plays slow -- No. 28 in the league in possessions per game. This serves to dampen Paul's numbers. As such, when the Hornets (are forced to) play quicker, Paul puts up ridiculous numbers. Like 43 points, nine assists and three steals.
Unfortunately, the Hornets lost. Paul's wings -- Rasual Butler, Julian Wright, Peja Stojakovic and Devin Brown -- combined to score 18 points on 33 FGAs, which is something awful. Jamal Crawford scored 39 points for the Warriors.
L!M!A!: LaMarcus Aldridge had 35 points and 18 rebounds against OKC. I believe the appropriate response is "Guh."
Perking Up: Kendrick Perkins is one of several Celtics that plays exceptional against the Hawks. Friday was no, um, exception, with Perk totaling 12/10/7.

Tom i thank you for showing Chris (and West the other day) mroe respect lately and even mentioning the fact that he needs to be compared more to Wade and Lebron because his stats are nearly the same while being more effiecent. Thank you for finally admitting to it and giving CP some much deserved face time in this column.
So my question from man to man and one basketball fanatic to another is - did my comments have anything to do with this sudden influx of Hornets respect? And also why did you defend yourself to me in those comments and then turn around and do exactly what i pointed out should be done??
