Kevin Love's ROY Campaign Goes Viral

Kevin Love's faux infomercial / Rookie of the Year viral marketing campaign cracks me up, not only because of the initial gag but also because it's so ... freaking ... long. Just like real infomercials, it's repetitive and annoying, but taken in context, the whole "art imitating life" schtick makes me laugh.

The Timberwolves are hoping that key members of the media will find it just as endearing -- it's the centerpiece of a package the team has sent the 125 members of the press who vote on the league's Rookie of the Year award. From the Star-Tribune:
Meant to showcase Love's knack to, ahem, clean up rebounds this season, a DVD containing the four-minute spot, a bottle of window wash concentrate, a Love towel, sponge and statistic booklet is being sent this week to the nearly 125 media members who vote on Rookie of the Year.
You can check out VoteMrLove.com to see the free swag the team sent out. The site is so cheesy it's slick -- kudos to the Wolves for going above and beyond the usual efforts.

Also, I'd like to add my own two cents to the Expert Testimonials page -- I knew the guy would be special from the moment I saw him unleash one of his trademark outlet passes at the Las Vegas summer league. Add my name to the list, fellas!

(A tip of the hat to, well, a ton of sites, but especially Can't Stop the Bleeding, which is where I saw it first before realizing we were the last blog on the internet not to throw up a link.)
