Cavaliers Show Up, Celtics Don't

In a game that was supposed to feature the top two teams in the Eastern Conference on Sunday, only one of the clubs bothered to show up.

Both the Celtics and the Cavaliers had already clinched their respective playoff seeds, and since Boston won two of the first three games between the teams this season, they really didn't have anything to play for -- which is something that was evident from the opening tip.

Cavaliers 107, Celtics 76: Box Score | Scores | Playoff Race

The Cavs outscored the Celtics 31-9 in the first quarter, basically putting the game out of reach before all of the fans in attendance could even make it to their seats. The lead reached as many as 30 points in the second quarter, before Boston ended the period on a 14-3 run to cut it to just 19 at the half.

The Celtics seemed to be satisfied with that small bit of success, because they came out flat to start the third and the lead quickly ballooned back up to 28 points. LeBron James led all scorers with 29 points in 30 minutes of action, and spent the fourth quarter on the bench icing down.

Things got a little heated in the third between Ray Allen and Anderson Varejao, after Allen felt he was knocked down intentionally after a free throw. From a kneeling position, he delivered a sharp elbow to Andy right to the groin -- and somehow the referees issued a double technical, assuming that Varejao must have been guilty of something.

But that was the most fight that Boston showed all afternoon. Cleveland clearly didn't want to lose the season series to Boston, and the Celtics -- still playing without Kevin Garnett -- clearly didn't care.
