In a game that was supposed to feature the top two teams in the Eastern Conference on Sunday, only one of the clubs bothered to show up. Both the Celtics and the Cavaliers had already clinched their respective playoff seeds, and since Boston won two of the first three games between the teams this season, they really didn't have anything to play for -- which is something that was evident from the opening tip.
The Cavs outscored the Celtics 31-9 in the first quarter, basically putting the game out of reach before all of the fans in attendance could even make it to their seats. The lead reached as many as 30 points in the second quarter, before Boston ended the period on a 14-3 run to cut it to just 19 at the half.
The Celtics seemed to be satisfied with that small bit of success, because they came out flat to start the third and the lead quickly ballooned back up to 28 points. LeBron James led all scorers with 29 points in 30 minutes of action, and spent the fourth quarter on the bench icing down.
Things got a little heated in the third between Ray Allen and Anderson Varejao, after Allen felt he was knocked down intentionally after a free throw. From a kneeling position, he delivered a sharp elbow to Andy right to the groin -- and somehow the referees issued a double technical, assuming that Varejao must have been guilty of something.
But that was the most fight that Boston showed all afternoon. Cleveland clearly didn't want to lose the season series to Boston, and the Celtics -- still playing without Kevin Garnett -- clearly didn't care.

Can Boston make it through a game without taking a cheap shot on someone? Allen should be fined for that shot to the junk on Verajo

Ray Allen is a LOSER..He couldn't do anything in Seattle. He has to have a majorly stacked team to get a ring and he still rarley shows up as far as making a significant impact unless the game has already been decided. Someone needs to wipe that stupid smirk off his face. I think the only reason he elbowed Andy in the balls is because he doesnt have any. Rat, you little girlie beotch, someone from the Cavs will make sure you feel the pain if you are able to get through the first two rounds of the playoffs. And if you do, I am sure it will be thanks to you. You has been!!!

While AV prior to this year has even annoyed peeps in Cleveland with his flops I can't think of one play he has done ever in his career that you could call him dirty. A hard foul here or there but not an intentional cheap shot that Boston seems to give out weekly. Way to have zero pride.

Lakers at Cavs. Lamar odom pointed out that Varejao was throwing elbows after the whistle and that he (Lamar) would not stand for it.

just goes to show you that Boston is becoming desperate. They know they can't win so they are going to try to take players out. It will be a long time before Boston wins another championship. It's over for Boston. I would not be surprised to see them go out in the first round. Ray Allen is a low life!!!!
