The struggles of Allen Iverson have been noted. He has been unable to find a groove with the Pistons, finally ending his 2009 season with back problems. His scoring average of 17.4 with the Pistons is the lowest of his career. The trade for Iverson sent Chauncey Billups to Denver, and Billups has been fantastic for the team. All that still doesn't seem like it should warrant this graphic ABC Sports showed during Game 4 of the Cavaliers-Pistons series (large image after the jump). The Cavs swept the Pistons, and the folks in the ABC truck decided to do a playoff comparison of Iverson and Billups, even though A.I. hasn't played a single game this postseason.
Why stop there? Can we get a graphic comparing Billups to Pete Maravich? Maybe they should see who has a better field-goal percentage between Chauncey and the Pope.
I did find it ironic that they went with "turnovers" as one of the items on the graphic. Iverson is tied for the league lead with least postseason turnovers. He has zero.

Kudos to ABC and you Shane (I didn't think I would ever say that) for informing us about what a selfish, egotisical player Allen Iverson has been with the Pistons. Now they can let him go and move on without him.

Both of your comments are erroneous. I blame the Pistons, not AI. That guy has been one of the most consistent players in the NBA over the last 12 years. And had he not had his "back issue" the complexion of this series would have been vastly different.

Iverson is not the selfish one. He was the one who was traded to a declining team. Rasheed Wallace is the one who doesn't play hard or smart and he cost the Pistons back 2 back championships. Iverson did what he could to make it work but the pistons team never accepted him or made him feel welcome.

i don't think iverson deserved that.
having his name mentioned at all during this year's playoffs that is.
he quit. even jspeed04 had the decency to put "back issues" in quotes, cause we all know the real deal. ai didn't like being forced to play a style of ball that wins games, rather than just scoring points. so he wasted the teams time, then quit on them.
he literally took his ball and went home. what does he have to do with the 2009 playoffs?

You are right Dino. I do not know squat about basketbakk i.e. meaning I know a lot. Learn some English before you try to insult me. If you think Allen Iverson is so great then start an NBA franchise and take him first. I will sit here and laugh in your face if you do.

The Pistons won the 2003-2004 championship because of Rasheed, not in spite of him. (Rolls Eyes)

Rasheed is garbage, He is one of the reasons why the pistons played so poorly. He just stands behind that 3 point line waiting to get a basket. He didn't even score today against the cavs. He should retire.

for the AI defenders...please tell me why, EVERY team he has left has become better when he's gone? The Nuggets were not a "declining team" when he arrived and then left...and they're clearly a better team without him than with...ultimately he will be defined as a "stats player" who did great and never really led his team anywhere, no matter where he went...he will also be defined by his Alfred E Neuman type quote "What? Me Practice? I'm the franchise player, I don't practice"... which completely misses the point of whether or not HE needs to, it's a TEAM thing which he never did quite understand...He talked team but always thought about AI first...regardless of what his assists stats show...

Denver couldn't even win 50 games before AI came. AI has helped out Denver tremendously. Plus, AI wasn't the only change that Denver made. Marcus Camby left. Then they added Chauncey Billups, Birdman, Renaldo Balkman, Dahntay Jones, and that Petro guy. The Nuggets are a completely different team from last year. Also, the Nuggets last season (with AI) won 50 games and this season (with CB) won 54 games. It's improvement but not a big difference like people think.
Are the 76ers a better team w/o AI? No. Even in today's game vs. the Magic, there were times where AI's presence would have helped them a lot. I can't believe you said that he never led his team anywhere. Didn't he lead the 76ers into the finals in 2001?
The Pistons are definately not a better team without him. Look at the stats. If AI was such a "me" player he would have been averaging at least 30+ ppg this season. But instead he put his style of play to the side to adjust to the Pistons.
Wake up and smell reality!!!

AI led the sixers to the finals 2001 atleast got out first unlike some of these other players that can't get past the first round or have never been to the finals

Really it's just tactless production.
At least give him the courtesy of a double-dash, as in:
PPG: --
FG: --
A: --
etc.
Bad form, ABC Sports.
