Late in the fourth quarter of the Lakers' Game 3 victory over the Rockets, it was clear that all was not right with Yao Ming. He was laboring to get up and down the floor, and running with a visible limp at the time. Yao was clearly hurt, but he would not accept any treatment for his injury when he went to the bench for a timeout. His team needed him, and no matter what, Yao intended to stay out there until the contest was decided.Unfortunately for Houston, that was the last time that they'll see Yao in uniform giving his all in these playoffs. It was announced that he has a hairline fracture in his left foot, and he's officially been ruled out for the remainder of the post-season.
Initial reports after the game from Rockets' GM Daryl Morey were optimistic, and he felt that anything more serious than a sprain seemed "unlikely." But after further tests today, the fracture was revealed, and although no surgery is required, the injury is expected to take 8-12 weeks to heal.

With or with out Yao, they are not going to beat the Lakers for the series anyway.Save him for next season.

I'm a Lakers fan but I still hate to see Yao get hurt. He is such a gutsy player and he has a lot of heart. I believe that the Lakers will win over the Rockets with or without Yao but I think without Yao's presence Pao should have an easier time to rack up more points. I hate to see teams not at full strength but injuries are all a part of basketball or any sport for that matter. Well, I guess Yao can eventualy start preparing for next year. One thing he should improve on is his conditioning. He seems to get winded often as the game progresses. Good luck Yao!

Houston needs to move on. neither T-Mac or Yao are going to take them very far into the playoffs. T-Mac is extremely overrated and Yao, as great a guy as he is, is just not physically up to playing an entire NBA season. Its time for the team to rebuild.
